I’ve been reading the psalms recently, using the guidelines from my INCREDIBLE Inductive Study Bible (NASB, wide margins, study tools, key word guide, maps, etc etc etc).
Anyway, moodiness… I know the ladies can understand this – sometimes i just get in a “funk” and don’t know why (unless its a regularly scheduled rise in my monthly hormones!). Sometimes i feel like my devotional time was incredibly unfruitful. [Thomas Merton, in Contemplative Prayer, explained that "we should not, however, judge the value of our meditation by 'how we feel.'" - what a relief!] But sometimes i don’t even feel in the mood to have a devotional time at all…. or be nice to my husband…. or pray nice sweet godly prayers…. you get the picture?
In reading the psalms, i’m realizing that David was a man of many moods. He had feelings… serious feelings… feelings i can relate to! And David would often tend to his own soul in many ways… learning to quiet himself like a weaned child. This takes incredible introspection, awareness, and discipline!
wow……. so, next time your feelin’ “funky” crack open your bible to Psalms 42 & 43 and speak to your own soul. These two psalms were written by the Sons of Korah, and speak deeply to the plight of the human soul. Put your hope in God, for you shall again praise Him – the Help of your countenance and your God!

“You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” Psalm 16
I suppose I could provide Shelly commentary on this, but I think it speaks enough for itself. love
Great comic strip. Calvin & Hobbes rocks, as do the Psalms. It’s great that God in no way downplays the range of human emotion – joy, sadness, and even the “blah’s” are acknowledged.
love these Psalms…a good Word!

this is so funny that i almost had to go to the restroom. Girl I LIVE in the Psalms and I am glad for that one moody dude!!
I am so glad I have met you in blog land!!
Rod asks me whenever I cry if I am having my period. NO I SCREAM…I AM A PERSON WITH REAL FEELINGS!!! that cartoon is hysterical! I am so glad that you lead worship and that you don’t think it is all about the Mandy show. I get so sick of the fancy programs…when worship at times is sacrifice…it is obedience…it is living for Him and about Him and His word…
I am telling you I know why the Lord didn’t give me a good voice…just a loud one.
