hey y’all! welcome back to WHATEVER WEDNESDAY – our first installment was more than i expected and i thoroughly enjoyed all the random questions that were passed along. THANKS for a great Wednesday!
ok… Tam‘s was the last comment, and she hit me with a painful question: have you ever lied to impress someone?
OUCH!!! i’ve been thinking about this all week…. and, unfortunately, the answer is yes. things became even more clear as i was enjoying the 6.25.07 podcast from This American Life….. the topic: deception. How timely!!! my answer, Tam, is a resounding yes. after watching myself all week and doing a little retrospection, i’ve realized that i do (in some subtle way) deceive those i want to impress. here’s how it works: if i’m talking to someone about something i know just a little about but wanna look like i know more than i do, then i’ll agree with them or respond in a way that communicates familiarity with their thoughts. i’ll say something like: “oh, totally”, or “yeah, yeah, yeah”, or “ahhhh… right!” etc… most often, my mind is really thinking: “um, what does that word mean?” or “who is that person they just mentioned?” or “i’ve never heard of that book/band/ author/movie/ show/philosophy/ song/actor/ etc before.”……. sigh… so i want to make the impression that i in fact DO know what they are talking about, even though i’m clueless…..
clueless….. that reminds me of a movie….
well, that gives me an idea for our first commenter’s question: what’s your favorite movie, and why?
here’s the rules, if you can’t remember how Whatever Wednesdays work:
The rules:
1. answer the question in the comment before yours (starting with this post)
2. ask another question for the person after your comment
3. the questions can be about WHATEVER
4. well, almost whatever — keep it clean (this is a family-friendly blog people!)
5. just do it… don’t read through everyone else’s comments and then lurk on – no serious blogger likes a lurker…
And I’ll answer the question to the LAST comment on next week’s WHATEVER WEDNESDAY!
click on the word “comments” to the right of the post heading, and scroll down to see the next question in the last comment! that question is for you!!!
Tags: clueless, lie, impress, favorite movie
My favorite movie has got to be “Pretty in Pink”. My parents watched 80s’ movies religiously, so I’m still addicted to them as well!
Next question: They say that you are what you eat. What did you eat for breakfast this morning?
I ate an everything bagel–onions, sesame, poppyseed, the works, with whipped cream cheese. We still have some of the low fat cream cheese in the fridge, but I wanted the real deal so I broke open the fatty stuff, and it was really good.
Next question: Is any single superpower better than the ability to fly? Oh sure, a combo like super strength and invisibility, or sweet foot long claws plus instant regeneration powers, might do it. But what about one single superpower, better than flying????
Answer: A resounding NO! I can not for the very life of me think of any superpower that would be better than flying. Unless you are talking about the oldschool Superman flying, because that would take too long in our super fast I want it now world…so I would say supersonic, instantanious get there faster than thinking flying. Yes, that would rock!
Question: If you had to create an ice cream flavor to describe who you are, what would it be?
Being able to manipulate time would have to be better than flying. Want to prevent that bomb from blowing up something, go back in time and thwart the evil-doers. Don’t want to cut grass, just pause time until you work up the desire.
Next Question:
What is a subject you wish you knew much more about?
oops! it happened again! teri & damon both posted comments at the same time.
lol.
lets go with Teri’s next:
IF YOU HAD TO CREATE AN ICE CREAM FLAVOR TO DESCRIBE WHO YOU ARE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
(sorry, Damon – i’d study music theory)
I’d have to say Drama Bahamama Mama Chocolate…
The chocolate would NOT be too rich, but not lacking in sugar either. I like my chocolate just right, where it’s sweet enough that you can exceed moderation if you want to for just a bit!
Drama – that means it needs to have something else interesting in the mix besides just chocolate b/c I’ve always got some Jesus drama going on in my life. So let’s say we’ll add some raw cookie dough Or marshmallows!
Bahamama Mama – B/c I love the summer time and I’m going to miss it when I move to Boston, and I like to be a beach bumb, this is where we need to add the chocolate syrup. But b/c that too would be too rich for my taste, I’d like to suggest soft brownie pieces in it! Yum!
How’s that?
NEXT Question: What is a dream of your’s that you may actually could be, should be, is possible to attain, but you’re letting fear hold you back?
OKAY OKAY OKAY! I apparently left a question that wasn’t very much fun. So, I will ‘punish’ myself by answering my own question and posing another one.
My answer: Sky-diving (I’m totally serious. But I want someone to go with me so I can share my joys of the day with!). And writing more…but I’m working on it.
NEW QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What’s an embarrassing moment you’ve had in the last year!!??
Hi Shelly! Actually it was fun, and I answered your last question, but I clicked something wrong and lost the whole thing! LOL Thanks for the save tho……Ok, most embarrassing moment so far this year was when I went into the local AMPM to pay for gas, slid on the newly mopped floor and knocked over the candy shelf…..yup, but then again the year isn’t over yet!!!!
Ok, question…..
When was the first time you REALLY trusted God enough to give Him EVERYTHING?
I was about 15 when I gave God EVERYTHING! My life, my heart my all! Since then I have moments where I have to still the wheel so to speak but I am making an honest effort to trust him with everything again. It is harder now that I am older I think so pray for me
What is your favorite room in your house/apartment and why?
Candace
My office. I painted it my favorite color in big bold strips. It holds my computer where I can fulfill my blogging addiction too. My favorite thing though is my big white comfy chair where I fill up on God’s word in my quiet time.
oooh this is tough…
Question: You have $100 bill handed to you. You cannot pay bills with it…it’s just for you. What would you buy?
alright everybody!
thanks for another fun day of WHATEVER WEDNESDAY!!!!!
its so great to get to know y’all better through your answers. that was awesome!
Megan: i’ll answer your question next week as i start off a new round of questions! I’ve definitely gotta think about that…..
