i don’t wanna interrupt the fun conversations about beauty, but its my favorite blogging day and i can’t wait to see what kinds of questions [and answers] come through today!
to answer megan‘s question: You have $100 bill handed to you. You cannot pay bills with it…it’s just for you. What would you buy? gosh… i’ve been thinking about this ALL week…. here’s the problem: i’m a seminary wife on a seminary budget. i just don’t have the financial freedom to dream of how to spend $100 dollars! but, if i did…. i’d spend it on……. um……….. maybe a massage….. or maybe a nice dinner………. or a bottle of wine (can i say that?)…………… or a nice dinner AND a bottle of wine………… or maybe a plane ticket for my mom to come visit up here……………..
my official answer: nice new clothes for church!
here’s the starter question for our first commenter: if you had to represent yourself as an animal, what animal would you pick and why?
The rules:
1. answer the question in the comment before yours (starting with this post)
2. ask another question for the person after your comment
3. the questions can be about WHATEVER — make it something fun that others will want to answer.
4. well, almost whatever — keep it clean (this is a family-friendly blog people!)
5. just do it… don’t read through everyone else’s comments and then lurk on – no serious blogger likes a lurker…
And I’ll answer the question to the LAST comment on next week’s WHATEVER WEDNESDAY!
Tags: whatever wednesdays, animals, money, just a girl
Well, I don’t know about everyday, but today I would be a sloth, because slowly do I move as if through a thick fog!
Question: What is the first thought you had this morning upon waking? Think!
My first thought upon waking today was “I love summer!”
Question: If you had to use a movie/TV show to describe your life, which one would you choose and why?
Sex in the City….LOL
No, no, no….I am just kidding…Gotta shake it up a little bit!
My only real ‘life movie’ is Lord of the Rings…I know..Nerd.
But there is a scene in the Two Towers that is most eloquently stated in the book. I’d quote it but I don’t have my copy in this bookcase…Anyhoo, the gist of it is, we are all afraid to undertake tasks which seem impossible – but the people you read about in great tales were afraid too. They just chose to take that step out the door and see where the road took them. I’ve always related this to my walk with God and with the heroes in the Bible. Just ordinary people who trust a huge God. The whole trilogy to me is a picture of sovereignty and how God works all circumstances together for a good end.
Okay – my question: What cd is in your player right now? What is your favorite song on it??
“What cd is in your player right now? What is your favorite song on it??”
The CD in my CD player right now is a compilation made by a friend of songs that I’m playing at a gig this evening. It comprises of just 6 songs:
Wild Cherry – Play That Funky Music White Boy
Smash Mouth – I’m A Believer
Rascal Flatts – Life Is A Highway
The Bangles – Walk Like An Egyptian
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Dani California
Led Zepellin – Rock and Roll
My favourite song is probably Dani California, as it has a really fun guitar solo to play.
My question to the next commenter:
If you could fly anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. To climb the Mountain. Five different temperate zones, topped with a glacier.
What is one thing you refuse to buy the generic version of?
I do not buy generic Peanut Butter. Some things just can’t be duplicated! Graham Crackers either.
Question: If you could meet anyone in the world, whose living, who would it be and why?
I would love to meet Louie Giglio in person. He has so much insight into scripture and how we live it out. + he’s a great communicator, so there ya go!
Question: What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever accomplished and what made it so hard/difficult?
The hardest thing I have accomplished is understanding that my kids are His kids and letting them go. It’s been hard because letting go and letting God have them meant watching them go through things we tried to protect them from while they were growing up. But now seeing God glorified in each of their lives in different ways has made it all worth while….what an awesome God we serve!!!
Who, besides Jesus has been the most influential in your life and why?
The most influential person in my life besides Jesus is my mentor Mike B.
Mike took me under his wing one day a week for nearly 18 months after I became a Christian four years ago. He spent the first three months hammering Ephesians 2:8-9 into me until I finally understood what Grace was. Because of him, I’ve been able to go through really hard times and not become insecure in my faith. He helped put my feet on solid ground and they remain there today.
Ok, so he had a little help from the Holy Spirit
My question, if anyone is still up, is: What is the most awesome thing you’ve ever seen in person that literally took your breath away?
I liked the last question so I’m going to answer…
My Grandma (Nonna) was the most influential person in my life thus far. She came over to America from Sicily with her husband and three sons one of them obviously being my Dad. She lost her husband to lung cancer in 1983 and she decided to stay in the US to be with her boys. She never learned English and lived completely on her own, no license no car no nothing. She had to rely on her boys to take her anywhere. My Dad who was the youngest always did most of her errands with her. My Dad has told me many times that he can’t remember his mother complaining a day in her life. And let me tell you she had many opportunities to. My grandparents were very poor when they lived in Sicily. Their home was the size of a one car garage. Can you imagine living in a house that size with four men and never complaining! Oh, and they had pet chickens that lived in there too!!
When I was very little and my parents were going through their divorce my grandma came to live with us for a few months to help my Daddy get back on his feet. She loved us like we were her own; she took such good care of us. She never yelled or spanked us. Let me tell you, us kids gave her plenty of chances to.
Whenever we would go visit her she would always give us kids a dollar each. We thought that was the greatest thing ever! My grandma got saved at an fairly old age and I believe she was led to the Lord by my uncle and Father. She had to trust what they were telling her was true because she couldn’t speak English let alone understand anything a preacher was saying. I find that to be remarkable. If you could see the change in her you would be amazed. She was a very superstitious woman and when she got saved she was free from all of that bondage. She always went to church with us even if she couldn’t understand a word that was said, because she wanted to be obedient! Well, I could go on and on but I won’t! My grandma passed away at the age of 83 I was 16 years old. We all got to say goodbye to her before she passed! I’ll never forget the last words I heard her say to me which were, “I love you Suzi”! She is the one person in my life who has been the most influential. And Beth Moore takes a close second! LOL!
Oh, I forgot to add a new question!
What is the best book you ever read and why?
Yeah I love Wednesday’s at Mandy’s blog.
That’s a tough question. I love to read…can I break it down in categories.
1. Non-fiction- “If You Want to Walk on Water you have to get out of the boat” by Jon Ortberg…amazing book!!
2. Fiction- The Nanny Diaries and The Shopaholic Series by Sophia Kinsella. Really fun reads!
My question may be the last again…
Favorite Fast Food Resturant?
Chipotles Mexican Grille. One Chicken Burrito Bowl pleeez… no sour cream, mild salsa, and the black beans. Yum. Is 8:40 too early for lunch?
What’s your most memorable birthday?
I want to play too!! What fun! What was my most memorable birthday? Well, I guess they’re all special since it’as MY day–Ha! Seriously though, my 36th birthday, because we had just returned home from Russia with our daughter like the day before. So, I became a mom close to that birthday.
If you could have dinner with 3 people, living or dead, who would you choose and why?
ALRIGHTY!!!!!!!!!!
otherwise boy & girl would’ve had the last question… again!
whew…. can anyone tell that i slept late this morning? LOL.
Cami & Holly slipped in this morning, so we’ll let them stay.
i’ll be dreaming of 3 people to eat dinner with, and let ya know who they are next week!
thanks for “playing” as Holly puts it.
