today is a unique installment of WHATEVER WEDNESDAY because we skipped two questions last week. so, to be fair to our wonderful participants, i’ll make sure we cover all those questions today.

i’ll answer one. we skipped Angie’s: what song really speaks to you? and why?

my answer: right now i’ve been blown away by Bethany Dillon’s “You are on Our Side” — its about God redeeming, restoring, protecting, and loving us. its powerful. go listen to it!

and, the final question came from dreamingBIGdreams: What room in your house is your favorite and why?

well, since we live in a one bedroom apartment the size of a shoe box (he he!) i’ll have to say that my living room is my favorite room. our couch is comfy (VERY comfy), the room is big enough to hold a small group bible study, decently-decorated, and my man (in the pic - everyone say “HI DREW!”) and i hang out in this room a lot.

now, for the question that our first lucky commenter gets to answer, i’m going to borrow Deborah’s question from last week, since we skipped it: What dream has the Lord shown you that you are having to wait for right now??

how this works: first commenter answers the above Q & leaves another Q for next commenter…. next commenter answers first commenter’s Q and leaves another Q for third commenter…. etc etc etc. so you’ll answer the Q in the most recent comment and leave one for the commenter after you!

NOTE: comments will be open until i wake up at some point on thursday morning and leave a “comments closed” post… so, early risers get to play on thursday am as well!

k?

happy wednesday!!! :)

Oo! That’s a good question for me in particular & I got it! :)

Well, a dream the Lord has shown me relates to probably working in music ministry in the future. He’s given me a taste of this so far in a beautiful way, though I know that it isn’t to happen in my life *right now.* It’s hard waiting, especially when other things in life aren’t making you happy, but just the fact that He’s given me this dream & shown me that it *will* happen helps keep me going most days as I continue to be taught by Him through His Word & my relationship with Him, & continues to provide resources, people & opportunities that will be helpful as He prepares me for it!

Next question: What is the most recent (or last remembered) thing the Lord has done in your life that surprised you (a blessing, a person who was brought into your life, a revelation, whatever comes to your mind)?

  • Shelly // August 8, 2007 at 10:19 am

    My answer:
I had a woman whom I’ve met only for about an hour email me to let me know she wanted to help support me in getting off to seminary and is mailing me a check. She is hysterical and absolutely precious. I met her through a mutual friend we have, only briefly mentioned my going to seminary soon, and she did some behind-the-scenes work to get more details.

Talk about my Jehovah-Jireh working in the heavenlies on my behalf. I was so overwhelmed (and still am…). Great question!

Next question: What was the last blessing you had spoken over you? (Be it through a friend, parent, sibling, mentor, etc.). I think it’s good to call this to mind sometimes b/c we need to receive those God-appointed blessings and let them work themselves out in our lives.

What was the last blessing you had spoken over you?

I had a Charismatic pastor pray a blessing over me. I’m not Charismatic and used to be skeptical of some of the practices. But this guy told me things about myself that there was no way he could have known. He had never met me and I can only say God spoke to him and he prayed a blessing on me and my ministry that I’ll never forget.

Next Question: How has God surprised you recently?

  • carrielouise // August 8, 2007 at 10:24 am

Answer: I think it was for God to give me His strength to get through each day with my four kids.

My question: If you could write a note to your self from 10 years ago, what would you tell the younger you?

  • Teri // August 8, 2007 at 11:56 am

    My note would say:
    Dear Me,
Take time to enjoy your litle boy, because he is going to grow up very quickly. As soon as your family starts growing, it will get a little crazier. Also, continue to take care of your body and skin…metabolism slows and wrinkles come. Oh yeah, enjoy all of those low maintenence days, because life gets nuts and your hair will probably turn gray too! You will go through things as a family that will astound you and grieve you, but cling to eachother and you will be fine. Treasure the love you have now and don’t be suprised as you go through these next few years how very much MORE you will love one another! But mostly, keep having fun and serving Jesus, because through it all, that is all that really matters.
    Love, Me

    Ok here is my question…
If you could have lunch with any person on the planet and have a genuine conversation, with no questions barred who would you choose, and what would you ask him/her?

  • totaltransformation // August 8, 2007 at 1:10 pm

    That room does look cozy.

  • The Preacher's Wife // August 8, 2007 at 2:59 pm

Again, you’ll see the nerd in me…

Mine would be J.R.R. Tolkien…I’d want to know how he persevered in writing LOTR…I mean, the man wrote an entire language as a layer for these novels! I can’t imagine completing a mammoth project like it…If it were biblical at all, I’d ask him to lay hands on me and give me a double portion of his resolve…:)

    My question:

How did you react to the last betrayal you experienced?

  • Brooke // August 8, 2007 at 5:24 pm

The absolute wrong way. I was terribly hurt and acted out. I basically fled the situation altogether. This, I now realize is the wrong answer, and I would hope that if a similar situation were to arise again, that I would behave more appropriately.

Now for my question: What is something you found out that you wish you never knew?

  • Tam // August 8, 2007 at 6:38 pm

Dang - good one! I guess I wish I never knew I had to die. Now, not that I don’t want to go to Heaven or believe that I am going to Heaven…because I am eagerly awaiting that day! But in the same way, in my humaness, I don’t want to leave my family here. So If I knew I were going to Heaven but had no idea I had to die to get there it would be much more pleasant! I know very weird and selfish - but honest! Kinda quirky too - but welcome to me…

Next Question: If you walked up to your church this weekend and saw a note on the door saying “Services are canceled this weekend - Please go into the community and serve others” - Would you?

  • Tam // August 8, 2007 at 6:40 pm

I meant to say is Not that i believe I am NOT going to heaven - cuz I BELIEVE!!! AMEN!

  • Angela // August 8, 2007 at 9:20 pm

Good question Tam. I suppose I would go and do that is what the church is suppose to be doing anyway! Although I would like it better if the note told me where to go and serve. :)

Who has had the biggest influence on your life and why?

  • dreamingBIGdreams // August 8, 2007 at 10:32 pm

I would say that my grandmother has had a great influence on my life. She is a great follower of Christ and has lived a very unselfish life. Also my mom (her daughter) has impacted my life tons. SHe has made some decisions in life that have made my jaw drop. Not sure I would have reacted the same way, but in the end she was right and God was faithful. She also serves weekly at a food center and monthly at another food center. Great volunteer work and helping people in their physical needs.

If you could konw the year you were going to die would you want to know?

  • pia // August 8, 2007 at 10:37 pm

hi mandy, thank you for praying for me and my husband. it really means a lot to us.

  • Boy & Girl // August 8, 2007 at 11:10 pm

That’s a super tough question. I think part of me does want to know, but truthfully I have to go with no I do not want to know. I’m just going to live life to it’s fullest.

What is your favorite Christmas tradition?

  • Holly Smith // August 8, 2007 at 11:10 pm

Yes, I would want to know. Just like tonight, we were expecting company, so I had the house company ready, ya know? Well, they didn’t come and I was left with a feeling of glee to enjoy the house clean!! Woohoo!

What is the one attitude that really gets you angry?

  • Holly Smith // August 8, 2007 at 11:13 pm

Ahh, I did it again! I posted “at the same time” as someone else! So I’ll answer the Christmas tradition one…is that ok? We love Christmas!!! And traditions!!! My very favorite is the drive as a family to pick and cut the tree. We sing carols and then have hot spiced cider. I just love it, especially in the evening.

Again my question: What is one attitude that really gets you angry and why?

  • Deborah // August 8, 2007 at 11:21 pm

That someone is somehow better or above another for whatever reason…ooooo…don’t get me started here….LOL But arrogance is ugly to me, a humble heart wins me over every time!!!!

Question:Knowing that God has been with you listening all day, what is the one thing that you said or did that you wish you hadn’t?

  • cherie // August 9, 2007 at 12:15 am

Well…after a very, very late last night, I ended up sleeping until eleven this morning (yikes!). I’m sure that I should be convicted about that alone. But actually the thing that I regret about my day is that I never spent anytime in the Word. I had a fairly non-productive day…and never siezed a moment to search out God’s Word. I wish that I hadn’t wasted so much time doing nothing of eternal importance. Hey…I just looked at my computer clock…I’ve got 45 min. left of today! I think I know how I’ll spend it… :)

  • cherie // August 9, 2007 at 12:17 am

if any one else logs on…my ? is…If you could travel through time would you choose to go forward or backwards and why?

  • mandythompson // August 9, 2007 at 8:37 am

    wow!
this was a FUN FUN FUN day of WHATEVER WEDNESDAY! i LOVED the questions that come out of this… its so incredible to learn more about y’all’s (yes, that’s a word) hearts for the Lord, for your families, and for life in general!

thanks for Playing!!! and, Holly: thanks for going back & answering that question - you got to play twice!

you know, i probably should clarify: if you wanna come back & post a comment/question at a different time of the day, that’s totally fine with me. i know a LOT of y’all check back in to see who’s answered your question during the day…. so if you see a last question that you like, go ahead & answer it & leave another fun question for the next person!

    :)

……..i gotta go figure out if i’d travel forwards or backwards in time.
