WHATEVER WEDNESDAY 9.25.07

235696308_d70e60c0cf.jpgi’ve been thinking alot about Tam‘s closing question last week: What would you do and how would you feel if you couldn’t get on a computer for a month?

well, i’d be out of a job for sure! and i’d lose significant contact with friends, family, and those i minister to! but, how would i feel? i think, in some ways, i’d feel free – but in other ways i’d feel totally isolated….. i dunno if i wanna go without my computer.

but, i took her question ONE step further: what if i couldn’t blog (posting, commenting, AND using my trusty bloglines)? [gasp!]

i did the math… if i didn’t blog for 1 month, i’d have about 50 free hours each month. that’s two days.

two days.

that’s an entire weekend!!!

i’d probably write more songs. and then record them.

i’d also probably read a book or get outside before the chill stays.

and i’d probably most likely definitely spend more time with others and [can i admit this?] my bible…..

since i think this is a question worth considering, a torment worth undergoing, i thought i’d ask you too.

so, starter question: what would you do with your new-found free time if you couldn’t blog for ONE ENTIRE and LONG month [gasp again!]? (please include an estimate of how much time would be freed up!)

  1. You want me to do math! OMG…Probably close to sixty hrs lol.

What would I do, Hmm…that’s tough, probably write a letter to someone, or actually do my homework! I don’t know, so many things, read books I start reading then stop, call a friend on the phone, take a walk to shed the pounds, go outside and just sit with my cat, and gaze at God’s creation, take a ride to the park, go see a friend I haven’t in awhile, watch a movie, get my nails done…hair, laundry, clean my room…Wow, that’s quite a list. LOL:)

Next question, since I helped Mandy’s icebreaking one lol:)

Do you have any ” what not to wear” clothing, you know not worthy of Clinton and Stacey approval? LOL.

  2. well, if I calculated the time I have spent blogging over the last month it wouldn’t amount to much so I’m safe from conviction about mismanage blog time (for now). If I were not allowed to blog I would make more phone calls. This is a form of fellowship and accountability for me.

  3. well considering I work on my computer I could not live without it…and with all the freetime from not bloggin I would probablly site infront of my computer watching the calendar tick for 1 month

  4. Hey Mandy, I don’t know, if you want to host it at other places…let me know and then let me know the how and what of it :)

    I don’t see a question…so I’ll ask one!

Um, how many times a day do you say something like “um” or something else that is a mindless, meaningless word? And what is the word?

  5. Yes, I have a pair of the most comfortable sweat pants that have velvet running down both sides of the pants (they’re from Express…that’s a cool store, right??). Anyway, I wear them a lot (mostly at home) and recently, the velvet part has started to rip at my right hip. It’s not very attractive, but yet I let it hang there and I still wear them! Stacy and Clinton would definitely throw those out. p.s. In college, I submitted my roommate to “What Not To Wear”, but no one ever got back with me. :)

Going along with that, if someone were to give you a $5,000 Visa card, what would you spend it on?

  6. Oooh, the Visa card…I would definitely buy some shoes and boots as I love fall/winter. Otherwise, I would probably be very frugal and start out with the 10 things for a wardrobe that Tim Gunn suggests and from there it would be some handbags (love those) and a nice coat. Quite honestly, even with the $5,000, I could not see myself spending ridiculous amounts on a few pieces as I like to get the most bang for my buck. :D Of course this is all a dream as I have a few months left on my Wardrobe Refashion pledge in which I can’t buy anything new, do you think Stacy and Clinton would let me shop at the thrift store? ;-)

Continuing down the money stream, if you had $1 Million dollars what would do with it?

  7. Tithe first (honestly), Pay off all our debt (house, student loan, car), help out our parents the way they have helped us out so much. Put away for my kids college so they dont have to get SL’s. Find a way to make what’s left grow so that we can always be in a position to help others as we have been helped so much in our life.

Next question … What is the TV show this new season that has you hooked? Could you go without it?

  8. First of course I would tithe. Can you imagine what my small church could do with that?
Next I think that I would drill several wells with Jim and Betty Robinson.
Invest so that the money would stay around.
Buy a house in the mountains and then allow people to use it free of charge. How cool.
Of course pay off debt–that would not take up much at this point.
Maybe I should have said pray about it–but this is off the top of my head.

    Next Question—

When was or is your Birthday and how did you or do you plan on celebrating it?

  9. Dallas Cowboy Cheerleading try-outs. I could live without it.

My birthday is Nov. 11th, I will be 27yrs.

    Next question:

Whats your favorite kind of food? and how do you like to eat it?:)

  10. Italian b/c I LOVE pizza. Sadly I have a nursling who can’t stand dairy or certain tomato sauces… so it’s been about 2 months since I’ve had a delicious slice of pizza-pie! 

What is your worst habit? And do you want to break it?

  11. I bite my cuticles. It’s a nervous tick I have. I do want to break the habit, but my husband would tell you I was lying. He always calls me out on it, and I continue to do it.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you in the past month?

  12. Well, I made the most horrible of mistakes…I asked a Bible study friend if I could bring her a meal when the baby was born…to which she replied, I had the baby three weeks ago. OHHH! I am so putting my foot in my mouth!

I asked an unanswered question earlier:
Um, how many times a day do you say something like “um” or something else that is a mindless, meaningless word? And what is the word?

  13. Mandy,
When the internet goes down here, we all go into a tailspin. Literally.
For me, I’m like you – I’d write more, spend more Quality Time with my wife and family – maybe we should!

Actually, I’ve started journaling my “time” lately and will have results on that soon enough. Joy talked about how when we made a financial “budget”, we found money we didn’t know we had. She thinks the same thing will happen with our time. I think she’s
    “spot on”.

    Fred

  14. ” You know” I have no idea how many times i say it lol.

What’s the last movie you watched? What did you think?( I saw the last mimzy, and loved it:)…

  15. I use my computer mostly for downloading (legally) music/shows for my iPod.

If you could suddenll become fluent in one other language that you currenly don’t speak, which one would it be and why?

  16. Just a random guy commenting here…
OK, it would be ancient Hebrew, because, first of all, c’mon. That would be tight.
Secondly it would save me hours of classwork right now.

Next, if you could (and had to) insert one extra joint in your body, where would it be and why?

  17. Being able to see out the back of my head!! Very handy. Of course, I’m doing my best to convince my kids that I already have this power.

What was your favorite book/series as a kid?

  18. To Not Mandy’s Husband Drew…Good answer, it would have saevd me much time too. I figure there’s a reason why it’s a dead language…It fries the brain of anyone attempting to learn it!LOL

  19. Book series…RL Stine, oh so good:)

Um, I have to ask this, because I just realized it, does anyone know what today’s date is? ( Mandy, pay attention lol.)

  20. Today’s date is sept. 26, 2007.
I pray that Mandy is okay! It is unusual for her not to make any appearances through-out the day on Whatever Wed.

    Next question:
What was your favorite subject in high school?

  21. My favorite subject was Debate Class. I know! We actually had a debate class in HS – it was awesome! A bunch of over confident teenagers just sure they were smarter than any and all adults trying to act all grown up – Hilarious when I think back on it!

Question: If you could change your name – what would it be and why?

  22. cherie: i’m here! i’ve been here all day. just too busy to type – and was gonna leave a witty comment after the “not mandy’s husband drew” comment earlier…. but didn’t quite make it!

ang: i’ve wiki-pedia’d sept. 26, am wonderin’ what’s the mystery about the date….

tam: my maiden name was Dubberly. pron: duh’-burr-lee….. so, yeah. found a decent guy (drew) with a decent name (thompson) and decided it’d do!

next question: would you rather sweat in the summer heat or shiver in the winter chill?

  23. Next question: What is your next question?

Did Tam find her missing socks? :) Oh that’s on her blog!!

    My next question…. hmmmmmmmmmm

If you could sit any park? Where would you be?

  24. Estes Park is where I’d be!

Mandy, the date at the top of your post says 9/25/07…I think that is the comment from Ang. However it is Sukkoth and a full moon….so perhaps she meant something like that :)

My next question: What is the one request that you’ve asked God to answer that you’d like to see come to pass?

  25. A: haha easy, “Dear sweet little 8 lb. 6 oz. baby Jesus please let me get hired at a good church as a worship leader.”

Q: What is the most recent website/blog post/youtube vid/something on the internet that really inspired you? (Copy the URL)

  26. okay, it didn’t post so I’ll try again (sorry if it appears twice)
    Q: most inspiring internet item
A: Chris (fellow Asbury seminarian) usually inspires me with deep thoughts and this blog post is no different: http://randomthoughtsbychris.blogspot.com/2007/09/thought-experiment.html

New Question: In honor of DC*B’s new cd release and Halo 3 release on Tuesday (I only own one of these at the moment)… What thing (or as Mandy said to me- ‘holy distraction’) has gotten you the most excited recently? And… what symptoms did it cause (sleeplessness, giddyness, etc.)?

  27. What was your biggest moment in your life?

Ummm. OK, here’s probably a little TMI for ya – but hey, it’s me! I had to have a radical hysterectomy when I was 31 (almost 6 yrs ago) and ladies let me tell ya…FREEDOM! I no longer have to worry about wearing light colored clothing half the month. I don’t have to strategically plan my beach vacations (just in case)…. Aaahhhh!

    Question: Is anyone still awake?

  28. yep…it is 1:20 am and this is when I do my best blogging. I am such a night owl!

Have you ever picked up junk on the curb that someone was throwing away? And if so do tell what it was.
