blog friends: i’ve just gotta ask…

and y’all are the only ones that can answer. y’all – my wild and crazy blog friends – who make me laugh and who i’ve so thoroughly enjoyed getting to know through this strange computer world of blogging. y’all – who lift my faith and share some of your deepest joys and sorrows on your blogs.

y’all…

i’m wondering this because my blog traffic goes NUTS on wednesdays (NOT complaining!)… and i always laugh my butt off reading your crazy answers/questions… and many of you stop by again and again throughout the day to check up on things… and y’all have also begun to watch out for each other and backtrack to answer skipped questions.

i, personally, LOVE it! its like hosting a party on my blog on wednesdays…

but, i gotta ask: why do y’all enjoy WHATEVER WEDNESDAY so much?  its a mystery to me!

:)

ps: i’m dying that the last commenter’s question was “Can Drew come out to play yet?”  i’ll let him know he’s had a personal invitation to Whatever Wednesdays, and let him speak for himself. LOL

WHATEVER WEDNESDAY 9.12.07

Hello and welcome to my favorite and most random blog day – WHATEVER WEDNESDAY!!!

Last week, Sarah‘s comment/question was eaten by the spam monster, so i’ll be a nice friend and answer her’s: If you had to live one place for the rest of your life, and it couldn’t be where you are right now, where would it be?

St. Simons Island. hands down. no question ’bout it! we lived there for 5 years before moving to seminary. its like home to us…

And our last question of the day came from D Rho: You’re a superhero. What would your superpower, character backstory, and costume be and why?

well, truth be told, i’ve already been a superhero. i was a superhero in a superhero skit once. i was invisible girl… some of the other characters were late-timing guy, billy the bus driver, gibberish man (that was drew, my husband), captain obvious, caffeine commando. i carried a LARGE white sheet in front of me (hanging down like a shower curtain) that read “you can’t c me” in big black letters… that was my costume – real elaborate, i know. i had no role but to walk to the area of stage where i would have to start leading worship immediately after the skit was completed. we needed some way to move me in place without being “seen”. LOL – so they made me “invisible”. and i did the voice over for a really bad ninja charlie’s angel kind of girl… it was funny – like those delayed voice overs of foreign movies. it really was funny, because no one could figure out where my voice was coming from… anyway, i guess you had to be there.

now, for our starter question, since i’ve been writing about friends this week: what’s the most most quirky characteristic of one of your friends?

the rules: you answer the last question left, and leave a new question for the next commenter.

friends from far away…

mi-suk – talks with me for hours every week. she teaches me how to love my husband, and how to be patient with life. she prays intensely for me and my ministry. she brings water for my soul.
soon-yi – she teaches me to speak korean, and has invited my husband to be an intern at a church in korean (don’t panic mom).
jin-hee – is an inspiration. she loves people and loves the Lord. and she loves to connect people with others – she is a networker and HARD worker!
min-hee – was a missionary in china. her heart is so soft and tender – and she has a brilliant sense of humor.
jin-ah – is wise. so wise… and so full of an abiding peace.
heh-jin – is young and brave. she just moved here from south korea. and she has a smile that lights up the room.
kyung-ah – is quiet and pensive, but loves getting to know people.

i love these women… these women of faith and devotion. these women of loyalty to the Lord and to their husbands…

they left south korea for an american seminary in new england… now we are friends.
these women bring a depth and richness to my life that i never anticipated. they teach me new ways to see the world, to see marriage, and to see faith.

they are wise, they are passionate, and they are strong.

they live thousands of miles from home, and a flight back would cost just as many dollars…

soon-yi and jin-hee teach me to speak a language i’ve never heard before! and i teach them as well…

i teach them how to cook american food:

sook-hee (above) wants to run an orphanage in North Korea. her heart breaks for the children there, who have lost parents due to war, poverty, or drowning. yes, drowning. the poverty in North Korea forces parents to attempt to swim through rough swift waters towards food and money for their family. sook-hee and her husband, who loves pizza as much as she loves orphans!, are our next door neighbors. they bring the other side of the world to our immediate life.

i never thought the kingdom of God could feel so big and so small all at the same time. tomorrow’s leaders of the South Korean faith live a wall away from me. we share food, laughs, and prayers. we share a common faith and common fears.

we are the same.

old friends and new friends….

this week was a week of friendships! and what a week it was… i don’t think i’ve been that busy since the week before i moved 1,000 from home. wow…..

drew and i had some old friends fly up to see us this week – and it was such an adventure! (sorry for no pics!)

and i’m also up to my eyeballs with my involvement some new women’s ministry stuff on our seminary campus, which means LOTS of new friends! (again, i so wish i had pics!!!)

i say all this to say: i LOVE friends.

i love that old friends know me well, and love me well…

i love that my best friends laugh at me when i’m being “bratty” (my closest friends can attest)

i love that new friends bring added interests and info to my life, and become my favorite teachers…

i love that my friends want to share with me the latest excitements of their world, whether these be ultrasound pics, stories about their boyfriend, the latest drama with roommates, the everyday average heartbreaks in life, laughs after a crazy road trip home, or funny homeschooling tales…

but, most importantly, i LOVE that my friends love me…
that they don’t take me too seriously when i’m getting all dramatic about something…
that they really really do wanna hear the latest silly song i’ve written…
that they aren’t afraid to make me (the eternal hermit) “get out of my cave” and hang out with them…
and that they are always there to help/listen/pray/laugh/talk/encourage/smile/hug…

what do you love about friends???

i’m Elizabeth Bennett

last night i went to see the movie “Becoming Jane” with a few girlfriends…. one who has been up here visiting since sunday, and boarded a plane @ 6:45 this morning to return to Georgia. i miss her so much while i’m living in New England. i’m a long way from home.

anyway… i thoroughly enjoyed the movie, even though the story-line didn’t follow history at every bend…. i must admit, i like Jane Austen.  :)

i saw this on www.strangegirl.com

I am Elizabeth Bennet! Take the Quiz here!

which fictional character (Austen’s or another author’s) do you think you most favor?
