“a life not evaluated is a life not worth living”…. i don’t know who originated that quote, but its one my mentor used a lot. i’ve never forgotten it.
i think evaluating and re-evaluating life is one of the most responsible things we can do. so i think it should be done on a regular basis… unfortunately, the week between Christmas and New Years isn’t really the best time to evaluate life and resolve to change things.
in case you were wondering, that’s why i don’t really like New Years resolutions. New Years is too hectic and too infrequent…
maybe we should initiate New Seasons resolutions – four times a year!
but, don’t get too worked up about this rant – i DO have a New Years resolution.
what’s yours?
Happy New Years,
mandy
One of my resolutions is to slow down mentally and really enjoy the time that I have with my kids and husband. I’m very good at multi-tasking in my mind instead of focusing on making my time quality.
one of my resolutions is to stop working when i come home. i am in ministry and at some point i have to draw a line and stop working. Not that working is bad or that sometimes there arent things that have to be done “after hours” but i take that to the max. I obsess about things and cant sleep. i am resolving to stop that.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I hold resolutions at arms length as well but can’t deny that I do make them – even if they’re deep in the back of my mind. I have several listed on my site but one in particular is to spend more time in prayer.
I have a daily challenge, each day for myself, and that is too re-prioritizing. I’ve gotten pretty relaxed recently. I’m with you tho on resolutions Mandy! Brent wrote a good one on that topic too today…
Happy New Year!!!
I’m not a great resolution person either.
Ugh!!!
The biggest change in my life that I need is to learn to “rest” , I’m never at “rest” and I overwork myself and I get tired and sick, But the hard part of this resolution, is not falling into my bed with my quilt.
It’s not feeling guilty about it!!!
Happy New Year!!!
Happy New Year! i think resolutions should just be called reevaluations, and a time to get the priorities sraight… I need a lot of refocusing…
But my resolution is to spend more time digging in the word and not just reading it!
I’ve heard of someone who suggests goals for the year instead of resolutions. Also, they suggested starting to work on those in October and finishing them by November. So, I do have some goals for 2008 in all the different aspects of my life: spiritual, family, career, financial, social, etc.
