Confess: my secret love…
2008 January 18
…. is Friends. i figured i’d go ahead & give you all the gory details since i had the videos up yesterday.

why is this a secret? because i’m SUCH a late bloomer! this show was made for my generation, but i didn’t “get it” ’til after the show went into syndication.
have no fear, though. one of my favorite seminary friends owns all.ten.seasons.
that’s right, y’all… all.ten.seasons.
can i get a “Hallelujah!” out there???
i started watching in September. i’m currently on Season 7. i hope to be finished with all of ‘em by the time the ground thaws up here.
ok. your turn: do you have a secret love? go ahead & share… your secret is safe with me!

Gilmore Girls…. I tried to convince my husband to buy me the DVD sets for Christmas, but he refused! It is probably the show out there that he hates the most. He says they talk way too fast. Haha, but it won’t stop me from watching!
Yes I have a secret love…but its so secret only a few people know the truth…frankly…I’d like to keep it that way.
Friends however I am VERY open about. I LOVE IT!
Hmmmm, it’s not really a secret, but I love Little House on the Prairie! We have thru season 4. I personally think it went down hill after Albert showed up on the scene. Nothing against Albert, but something about the show changed, it become more serious and tragic. I like the earlier shows, so much more innocent and cute! My fav episode is when Laura pushes Nellie down the hill in her wheel chair after she finds out that Nellie has been faking paralysis! LOL!

Friends and Gilmore Girls are the best tv shows ever…hands down! I have both complete seasons and whenever i need a good laugh, i pop some Friends in, and when i’m feeling a little dramatic, i pop some Gilmore in. I think Friends gets even funnier the more you watch because you can focus on the jokes instead of trying to remember each character and their story. Exciting that you are a Friends fan too!
phil collins. shhh. stop laughing so loud! Someone will hear you.
MASH.
I liked it because Alan Alda and company could always make something interesting and humorous from people thrown together in that worst of human conditions known as war.
Anything with “Law & Order” in its name. LOL And you can add CSI, Criminal Minds, etc. Boring, I know… I also watch Fox News Channel all the time. Livin’ it up here in NH. LOL

WOW. we are all TV addicts, aren’t we??
one of my BFFs loves Gilmore Girls… she made me watch an episode over the holidays – they talked SO fast that i couldn’t really get into it!
if we’re talking specifically about tv shows we love that may be past their prime in cool-ness factor, does anybody remember Quantum Leap?
Josh: Quantum Leap? are you old enough for that???
And JILL: OMG – how’d i miss that secret comment? do i know your secret?!
Mandy. Welcome. Back in the day, my husband, me, and a best friend would park in our living room with Chinese food every Thursday nights for this amazing line-up:
Mad About You
Friends
Frasier
Seinfeld
ER
I mean, are you KIDDING me? That was TV magic right there.
True confessions currently? My dream line-up, transcending both time and network:
What Not to Wear
Gilmore Girls
Friends re-run from first 3 seasons
Sports Night (short-lived series that was awesome)
West Wing
My friend Charlotte would be your season buddy…she is obsessed with FRIENDS.
We would be on the phone(and she lives in canada), and we would go back and forth saying the lines from the show….
Yes, we knew the lines:)
Show I wish didn’t go into syndication….” Joan of Arcadia.”
Well I did think of a something that few people know I love…spongebob! HE is so cute and adorable and silly! I love his laugh! It is infectious and when my kids are watching it I always laugh!
RE: friends. sorry to rain on everyone’s parade…but isn’t that show morally questionable???
Just a thought,
angela
On my iPod I have songs by Avril Lavigne, Perry Como (remember I grew up in the 1950’s) and Suicidal Tendencies.
One my favorite dancing songs is My Sharona by the Knack.
Tremors and Congo are two of my favorite movies.
My darkest secret may be I was a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I love October Road! Great show! It’s on Monday nights here.
Ed, My Sharona is a classic!! And anything by The Police – they rock!
Angela: THANK YOU FOR THAT COMMENT!!! “morally questionable” is the EXACT reason i never watched the show when i was in highschool/college…. yes ma’am. i should’ve made that clear. but, now that i’m married & know what “drinking moderately” means, some of the junk that the show spits out really isn’t that big of a message to me now… i think that the show would’ve made a larger moral imprint on me as a single immature young adult. now, i can ignore the moral crap and enjoy the jokes. maybe i’m justifying myself, but i personally don’t think i’m as affected now as i would’ve been back then. does that make sense?
Ed: Buffy the Vampire Slayer? say it ain’t so!
Tam: i have no idea what “october road” is… that shows you how little i know about TV these days! if it doesn’t have Keifer Sutherland or Jen Aniston in it, then i’m clueless!!!
Love 24, but I have to find someone who has the whole season since I can’t stand to watch the show with commercials. Tried it once….couldn’t do it.
Also…LOST. Found out that the season is available for viewing online….YEAH!YEAH!YEAH!
Friends is getting me through late night feedings and, well, all other feedings right now. I’m such a multi-tasker that just sitting there while Henry helps himself to “the supply” is almost torture. If I didn’t watch at night (read: 2am, 4am, etc.) I would probably crush my little one falling asleep!
As far as confession secret loves, I have to say Harry Potter. I was an anti-Potter-ite for several years and married a Literature Lover and a big Harry fan. I was fine with it knowing it was personal conviction and not a biblical mandate that “Thou Shalt Not Read Harry Potter” but I refused to watch the movies with him and/or read the books. I can’t remember the moment I gave in, but it started with one of the movies. I think it was on the TV and I had no choice (outnumbered I think). Then Justin started reading the books out loud at bedtime to me and I decided I was mature enough of a reader to be able to separate fact from fiction so it was okay for us to read them. By this last book I was frothing at the mouth with anticipation. I made Justin read it out loud with me so neither one of us would know what happened to Harry before the other (it was only fair…). My, how things have changed, huh!?…so yeah, my now not-so-secret love is Harry Potter. LOVE the books. LOVE them.
Have you gotten to the one of Monica in Barbados with the hair? It’s one of my favorite episodes because that happens to me. Also the baby got back episode. lol.
