i found a way to conquer my Friends’ TV addiction

how did i conquer my addiction?

.

.

.

by completing all TEN seasons in about 7 months. yes, that’s TEN years in SEVEN months. and that’s the ONLY way i could loosen the grip that the show had on me. whew.

i’m SO sad that Phoebe & Joey never got married because they are PERFECT for each other… equally disappointed that Joey never found true love (well, other than that confusing situation with Rachel).

still think Ross is NOT smooth enough for Rachel. but ok. fine. better for her to be in love with him and staying, than for her to be in stupid Paris. and i DIED when Gunther professed his love to her. wow

but, i’ve just GOTTA ask: why is CHANDLER a father to TWO children??? why??? i mean, seriously, when is he going to grow up?!?

done

cried

but done

this marks the end of an era in my life…

  1. I always wondered about Joey and Phoebe as well, but I think Mike is good for her.

Ross is kind of whiny and not cool enough to be with Rachel…but it’s right…and it is good thinking back to season 1 with the prom video and all.

And after the weddding it made me nuts how uptight Monica became – wound ven tighter if possible.

What’s your all time favorite episode? Mine is “The One with the Embroyos” (That’s when Phoebe gets Frank and Alice’s eggs…but also the one where they see if the guys or girls know each other better. They ask all kinds of trivia questions and even bet the apartment. It’s great.)

If I want a good laugh…I look to these guys.

  2. Well, i don’t actually have favorite episodes. but i DO have two favorite phoebe moments.
    1) when she sang along with the bagpipes. i laugh just THINKING about it.
    2) when she stayed on the phone with the customer service people for 2 days and tried to put on a sweater. but her head got stuck in the arm & she said: “Monica! I’m SCARED!!!”

I’m TOTALLY laughing out loud about those right now!!!!

  3. One of my favs is when Ross wears the girl shirt, Monica’s shirt to his date, and his date is wearing the same shirt!!! Ha ha!

  4. HEY!!! The bagpipe one is on right now, I think. Hilarious. This is one of my fav’s, too, because when it was on for the first time, it went right into the only blooper show they every aired, hosted by Conan O’Brien. It was, I believe, a special air date after the SuperBowl or something like that.

not that i’ve, you know, WATCHED it that much or anything.

  5. My all time favorite sitcom – I can still watch it in re-runs over and over, laughing just as hard, and saying the words with them. It’s a classic!!

NorEaster!!?? “Friends” you must watch it – it has closed captioning – it’s hilarious!!

  6. i so want to get the whole friends collection at some point… with living in africa, i’ve never even seen a whole season even! just bits and pieces of each…

    shameful.

  7. i must admit i am a big fan of friends. i even almost teared up on the final episode. i kinda felt like i grew up with them in a wierd sorta way. i am quite rossien in behavior. i wish i were as cool as joey or even as quirky as phoebe but alas i am not (although i did get my rachael)

  8. Amanda, :)

I like those two Phoebe scenes as well. They do make me laugh out loud. One of my favorite Pheobe scenes is when the gang is all on speaker phone (I think with Chandler while he is in Tulsa…this other party may be wrong) and they all yell out Merry Christmas or Happy Birthday and Phoeb’s is just yelling out “Blar, Blar, Blar!” Good times. I will find myself saying that at times.

What “Friends quotes” do you find yourself saying? It’s kind of funny (or bad) how often we find ourselves saying “Oh, like ____ (a Friends scene)”.

I wrote this one before you started reading:

  9. I bought season one for our trip out here to North Dakota. I never saw season one, just the later years. It’s all very very funny. ;-) I also got Everybody Loves Raymond. Those two are my favorite sitcoms ever I think. :D

  10. Brandy: Ross’ pants are SINFUL! in the WORST way!!!!

Sean: i actually know someone with a “third nipple”. :D

    Danielle: i TOTALLY cried. ugh…

    Alece: gasp!

    Michelle = nice pic! ;)

Kim: not that you’ve, you know, WATCHED IT that much or anything! RIGHT!!! HA!

  11. I just spent the last….oooooh….almost hour watching video clips of Friends on YouTube and I am exhausted from laughing so hard!!! Oh my word!!

    thanks a lot.

  12. Mandy! – I want to know which friend you also cured of their TV addiction???? (read the blog post title again!) ;-)

Was it Danielle? Kim? (not that she watches the show all that much!)Tracie? Michelle? Sean??
Oh, and i was going to say i thought i was more of a Ross but Sean alerted me to the fact i’m probably more like Chandler – now you ‘know’ TWO people! :-) It’s hard to spot though – unless i’m bare-chested and the weather is cold – or someone throws cold water on me! ;-)

  13. Congratulations!

That’s a whole bunch of Friends to sit thru in one period of your life.

    Now you can move on
to sonethi more substantitive (is that a word?) like watching EVERY best picture nominee since the beginning of oscardom.

    Have fun!

  14. Love: VERY funny! i cured myself… well, maybe. i’m going through withdrawals right now and might just have to watch out-takes while i fold laundry today. must.watch.friends.must.watch.friends.

Russ: substantive is DEFINITELY a word, but i don’t think i’d use it to describe “Friends” :)

    Brandy – LOVED it!
