i fell in love amidst the breaking waves one rainy wednesday night. we were covered from a food fight on the beach (oh, the joys of youth ministry). he’d grabbed me up in his arms and tossed me into the water.
then he told me i was beautiful.
then i laughed.
then it was raining.
and the water was splashing up from the raindrops.
and as we walked out of the water he put his arm around me and right then - RIGHT THEN - i thought: “THIS is what its supposed to feel like”…
::
the weekend after, i asked my cousin if i could wear her wedding dress someday. i told my mom and grandmother about him. and, had “our song” picked out.
::
the following wednesday, a week after i fell in love, we went on our first date. and he took me to the beach. and we danced - waltzed. right there on the sand that night. and we didn’t care that people were walking by.
::
about two months later we were on the beach again. another date. another evening. only this time he kissed me. and i suddenly forgot how to breathe.
oh that kiss.
::
what’s YOUR favorite kiss? any memories worth sharing??? oh, DO tell!!!

LOL! Poor guys! (Josh and Jon) If they had actually HAD that one memorable fabulous kiss…I’m sure they wouldn’t mind talking about it one bit;)
My first kiss with my husband. SHORT story version-
We came from two different worlds. I wasn’t born again until I was 22, AFTER way too many relationships, and a baby. He was born again at 8. He saved everything, including his first kiss , for me. FIRST kiss ever.
About 2 weeks after we were engaged. Saying goodbye at my door. He decided to kiss me:) a very sweet nice kiss. But like I said, I came from a different world. I tried to swallow his face. I freaked him out to say the least. That was 12 years ago. We’ve managed to figure it out since then;)

ok….here is mine.
my husband and i waited to kiss until our wedding day (we had kissed other people in the past, but decided for us that our first would be that day). our first kiss was mid afternoon. i was in my gown and he was dressed and ready for the wedding. it was with our photographers there, ready to capture the moment. we didnt want our first kiss to be in front of 300 people, as the tend to be awkward.
he was facing the other way and i walked in and down the isle and then around and faced him. i had tears in my eys. he leaned in and kissed me. the world around me faded. i dont think i remember anything for that short time. my breath was gone, the things we still had to do for the wedding stopped. it was he and i, and that was all that mattered.
i still smile when i think about it. and in case you wondered…it was worth the wait.

Woo. Is it hot in here? Nicely written, my dear.
My best first kiss on March 9, 1992, by the hubby. He swept me off my feet. I’ve never been the same since.

Good thing I’m in touch with my feminine side!
My first kiss with my wife was on our first date. We were standing next to my truck in the movie theater parking lot (where we had seen ‘Flatliners’). It weren’t no peck on the cheek deal, neither. It was one of those passionate, Hollywood movie, must have you now, skyrockets overhead, ohmigosh-I-might-die-without-you kinds of kisses. I remember it lasting a long time, weak knees, lightheadedness, and wanting it to never end. It has been 17 years and I still feel like that when I kiss her.

Oh my gosh that’s so romantic! Totally chick flick material.

I was in the 4th grade. The 6th grade neighbor boy planted one on me without my permission. Gross. He grossed me out and his breath smelled like sour milk!!!
Now that I have an 11 yr old boy I know his breath stank cuz he didn’t brush his teeth.
i think i need to go puke.
Heidi // May 12, 2008 at 1:36 pm
My first kiss was in 3rd grade- his name was Freddie Minor.
It was a very wet moment.
But if I think about it the kiss that meant the most was the kiss from paul (my hubs) he kissed me from behind his car door. It was innocent and so not planned.. but that’s what it took to sweep me off my feet… still does after 19 years.

We were standing on the beach. He looked into my eyes and asked me if it was alright with me if he kissed me. I couldn’t believe it! Did he just ask me if it was alright with me for him to kiss me? Who does that? He did. I believe that he did because when we first started dating I unkowingly to him had placed a fleece before the Lord on whether or not I should continue to pursue this relationship towards marriage. I told God that I didn’t want to waste my time dating him if he wasn’t “the one.” So, one day I asked God to give me two signs to let me know he was the one for me. The first was to be that the very first time we kissed that he would ask me first. I asked this becuase I knew there was slim chance of any guy ever doing such a thing, and if he did, I would know. The second was that the first flowers he ever gave me would be pink roses. So that day on the beach, when he asked that question I’m sure I must have had a look of utter shock, he had to ask again, I said yes, and ooooooooooooooooh that kiss, nothing will ever compare to the feeling of THAT kiss. You know that feeling. No one should live life without that feeling. I had waited for that kiss all my life. And finally, it was mine.
Oh, and as far as the pink roses……I got them a few weeks later and the rest as they say is history. I got the man of my dreams!

Okay I think I didn’t breath the entire time I read that.
And my eyes….
I felt like I was watching a great movie…. like P.S. I love you or something.
I could cry after reading that!
There were lots of kisses (unfortunately) for me in highschool but one that was AWFUL was the first time a boy tried to…. well you know…. REALLY kiss me. *GAG* I described it as a NASTY lizard and I literally pushed him and said “I need to go find Tara, I need to go find Tara, I need to go find Tara” (my friend…obviously) and I literally took off walking as fast as I could. I “broke up” with him the next day. I was in 8th grade. It was awful.
My friend Tara and I still laugh about that today! HA!!

Wow… what awesome stories. My first kiss was in a tree (I was such a tomboy). I was about 7 or 8, and we gave each other a little peck. It was kind of gross.
tam // May 12, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Actually.
My first kiss was on a mirror.
jon // May 12, 2008 at 4:10 pm
@ kelly…ok you asked for it…
it was a cool, calm, clear fall evening…all kinds of stars up in the sky…we took our usual walk around town and stopped in the park…we sat in the park on a bench just enjoying the beautiful weather and talking about the children we would one day like to have (she =3, me =2)… we talked about all of the things that our kids would most likely get into, because we did…she was 29 and i was 24 (my favorite part)…and then we kissed…
so there you have it…i made up 50% of that to make it work…and i think it did…LOL
Heidi // May 12, 2008 at 4:34 pm
@jon
All of ladies know that was a true story ALL of it.
But you just don’t want to your romantic side.
If it’s true… you’re a romantic
If it’s made up … you should write for romance novels
LOL

Goodness….don’t think I can remember one exact time only that blew me away. So yes, I guess I would say there have been many during our married years. The times that still get me-after 19 years–are when he gets that silly grin on his face and he puts his hands on my face and he tells me how beautiful I am and then he leans in….goodness…still gets me.
I LOVE MY MAN!

Now that I see that in actual print, I am forced to answer my own question in the affirmative!
ramsey72 // May 12, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Well, since I haven’t had the kiss that has swept me off my feet, I will tell you about the one that got me in the most trouble.
The high school that I went too was a fundamental Christian school that was strict and everything it seemed was against the rules. So, there was this guy who had been trying to kiss me since we were in the 9th grade, but I was always dating someone else so I wouldn’t kiss him. Then we went to Orlando for our Senior trip and spent 12 hours in a van doing some serious flirting. So, when we got to the motel, it was like 3:00am and he and I and another friend were the last ones to get our stuff. We had two choices the stairs or the elevator. Our friend chose the stairs and we went for the elevator. The doors shut and we had a serious makeout session to the third floor. The doors opened, we went our separate ways and avoided each other like the plague the rest of the week. I told one of my best friends when we got back and she thought it would be great material to use in our Senior roast. Unfortunately, the principal didn’t think it was funny and we got suspended from school for a day 2 weeks before graduation!

#1: my dad is an ex-body guard for the stones and Hendrix
#2: my parents told me when I left for college that if I the next boy I kissed was my husband on our wedding day, they’d give me $5,000 in cash…nice birth control strategy, mom and dad!
So, needless to say, my husband had the odds stacked against him. We waited 9 months into dating…then, we couldn’t wait any longer…the hormones were raging and we gave into the throws of love. Yeah, I never said I was a romance novelist.
It was so worth it…even though Lynse Leanne (from above) could make it…I’m not that disciplined. I also thought that would be WAY too many firsts on one day for my liking.
Seriously, waiting to “seal the deal” until the wedding day had to be one of the most difficult tasks I have ever had to undertake, E-V-E-R! For future reference, never make your children wait 4 ½ years to get married…it just ain’t healthy.
Kelly // May 12, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Jon….yeah, you should write a book. We’d all buy it.
And you know it was all true. You wouldn’t have included conversation about kids in there if it was made up! LOL!
NE….Eric and I talked about kids just after we were engaged….two weeks before our first kiss:)
so…my favorite kiss? The wedding day. We were both SO nervous! I fell apart in my pastors office 3 days before. Sobbing my eyes out telling him I couldn’t get married cause I had no idea how to be a wife! Eric was so sick from nerves on our wedding day he was as green as a tree frog!
Our Pastor spent most of the hours previous to the wedding just trying to calm us each down. When the ceremony was finally finished, and he said “you may kiss your bride” the entire room disappeared, there was no one there but Eric and I. It was the most magical kiss ever! When we were *finally* finished, our Pastor said…”I think they are going to be JUST fine!” LOL!
Kelly // May 12, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Cathi…..4 1/2 years??? That’s just torture! MAJOR torture! We were only together about 3 months before we got married, and THAT was hard enough! YOU are one strong woman!!
cathi stegall // May 12, 2008 at 9:37 pm
you’re tellin’ me, Kelly!
Best birth control ever? forget passing out “raincoats” in jr. high…give them an asprin…stick it between your knees and you’ll be good to go!
jon // May 12, 2008 at 9:44 pm
@TheNorEaster … the “significant other” in my partially fictional story was a real person…now my amazingly beautiful wife kasey…if i remember correctly we did talk about children before kissing, but it didn’t occur on a park bench under any star filled sky…
@Heidi and Kelly … i will start that best-seller soon???
now back to BASEBALL!!!

My favorite kiss still has to be my first kiss with my wife. We were in Bowling Green Kentucky where we were on a bridge that was overlooking a river. I was scared to death…but it all worked out!
debraparker // May 12, 2008 at 11:22 pm
The first kiss…
We were sitting on the back of my parents car talking and laughing the night away. I could feel the moment approaching. Nervous is an understatement! The boy of my teenage dreams leaned in and softly kissed me. Perfection.
It was so good that I married that boy.
bransblahg // May 13, 2008 at 1:29 am
Tammy is ignoring my comment about kissing her hand. Because really, it’s just that true.
Mark // May 13, 2008 at 3:04 am
My first kiss with my wife was comic. We just sat there and laughed afterwards. We had been close friends for 18 months prior, so I think we were just relieved that we were able to make the transfer to the lovey-dovey side.
Oh, then we kissed some more. That was over 19 years ago, and we’ve been married 18. BTW - we make the kids ill from still kissing ALL the time.
alece // May 13, 2008 at 3:20 am

my favorite kiss was the first time niel kissed me. it was my first kiss. ever.

Awww Mandy!
Ok, this is not my story, but it is something that happened just tonight. I am in Colorado spending time with the family that led me to Jesus when I was a tween.(I am still very close to all of the…they are like true family to me!) I came here because the youngest daughter just graduated High School (homeschool) tonight. We had a dinner in her honor and a little worship followed by a time of prayer for her. Her parents each had some stuff to say and then it was just fun time. Sometime during the evening I heard her ask her Dad for permission to finally kiss her boyfriend. She has been dating him since January or so and she just finally felt like it was the right time. (It would be her first kiss ever.) Her Dad gave her permission and so sometime during the festivities she snuck outside with her beau. (Side note: she told me that she always looks at the clock at 11:11. Randomly it happens, it is not as if she is waiting to look at 11:11…it just happens to her ALOT.) Her boyfriend knew this about her and timed it just right that they would share their first kiss…and her first kiss ever at 11:11. Oh yeah, and it was also raining. Yeah, they kissed at 11:11 in the rain. Precious!

These are all great stories….it should be a coffee table book!
brandiandboys // May 13, 2008 at 7:43 am
Oh - I just got all warm and fuzzy. My hubs (pete) just posted above his first kiss with me. Exactly the same one I was thinking about. Out on a pillar of a train bridge in Bowling Green, Ky. We were both sophomores in college at WKU. Here we are 15 years later and three kiddos. Thanks for your post which make me smile first thing this morning!
Kelly // May 13, 2008 at 7:45 am
Alece, I love it!
Teri, what’s so precious about that story is that she ASKED her father’s permission! Beautiful! My husband wouldn’t marry me without my father’s blessing. I was so stinking mad about that! I was 24 years old and had been living away from home for 8 years! LOL! He did get his blessing, though they didn’t meet until our wedding day:) Hey Mandy, we need one about wedding stories now!!
Michelle // May 13, 2008 at 11:41 am
I love your story, Mandy!
My first kiss with my husband-to-be happened at Turner Falls on our way back to college. We stopped there since Phat had never seen the waterfall in Oklahoma. We were 19 and were married two-and-a-half years later…TORTURE is the operative word. I’m totally against long engagements!!!
