do you know how wise Audrey Hepburn was?
“People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.”

Too bad people don’t heed this advice … I once read a quote that said if Grace is not amazing it’s not grace.
oh heather.
SOOOOO true
i’m thankful that when i’ve tried to throw my life out the window and do things my own way…God got me out of the trash…restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed me!!!
i pray that God can use me to do that in the lives of others!!!
great stuff!
oh man. yeah…. i’m glad God is in the recycling business!!!
That quote is getting copied in my favorite quotes book! I have been convicted of the way I view people lately and have been praying that God would give me eyes to see them the way He does.
Wow Mandy that is a keeper!! What an awesome reminder for me today. Thanks! Jen
she was a wise woman.
i think i’m quicker to “throw out” myself than i am to do it to others. i’m learning to extend more grace to myself in my internal dialogue. i often find myself saying things to me that i would never dream of saying to another. i can be so encouraging, positive, and strength-acknowledging in others, and so discouraging, negative, and weakness-acknowledging to myself. but if God can find some redemptive quality in me, i should look for it as well.
Good quote. And very very very true. (There are times in my life I really really really wish I had known what she had said.) But the “restore renew revive reclaime redeem” is cyclic. Not a singular moment or an absolute found immediately once we accept Christ.
Audrey always reminds me of Katherine. Same last name kind of thing. When I saw the title I thought, “Gosh, Katherine Hepburn passed away not too long ago…” Turns out, though, Katherine passed away five years ago. Where does time go???
Seems like only yesterday there were “snow flurries over Louisiana!!!”
Love that, thanks Mandy. It so perfectly describes God’s heart towards us, huh? His beauty for our ashes, His amazing grace …
sounds eerily like the bible
“never throw out anyone”. I like that alot. Going to have to ponder on it today…
I’ve always loved her!
the “never throw out anyone” part grabbed me too.
nat: you know, truth is truth.
i can just see her say that with her pert little face and uptown voice.
i agree. =)
I just posted after reading this quote! what a great statement!
H: LOVED your post.
I love Audrey Hepburn. My Fair Lady. One of my favorite movies. In that movie, she said [and I quote]: “Move yo bloomin arse” to a race horse at Ascot. Classic.
Her quote reminds me of giving people a second, third, fourth, hundredth chance like God gives us. Imagine if God threw us out when we weren’t so presentable to Him? Ouch. I think I’d be in big trouble. It’s definitely difficult to give people a chance depending on how they’ve hurt you but if we seek God for healing for that hurt, He will give us strength to forgive and give the person another chance.
That is a beautiful quote! That gets at the heart of the Gospel.
Mandy, I have been an anonymous blog reader of yours for awhile now…but I had to make some noise today. I was so touched by you sharing this quote….it inspired me to blog about it myself. Don’t worry…I showed you some link love! Thanks for challenging me today. Blessings!
wow… this is great… thanks.
