Call Me Crazy: socks

why? because my feet feel naked. duh.

i also have at least 3 pillows.

if i don’t have white noise, i’ll stuff earplugs in my ears.

and NOBODY MOVE (drew) if they’re (drew) in the bed with me, or else….

ok crazies.

  1. My internet’s been off and I’ve been having Just A Girl withdrawls!

    Sleep . . .

    Sheet must be over shoulders

Feet hanging off end of bed

Absolutely nothing on my feet – sorry Mandy! – my tootsies like to be free!!

  2. this is easy:

    Heidi’s Prep

    2 VERY cold pillows
    1 momma’s quilt

    NO socks
1 pair of sweats bottoms and 1 very long tee.

Touch me YOU GET A BLOODY NOSE…
Left side of the bed only
    Fan in the window

Of yea, If I talk or walk (in which I do often) I plead the 5th until I call my lawyer in anything that is said or done. :) :)

  3. My husband has to have the covers perfectly straight to go to sleep. He will reposition them 5 or 6 times before they are JUST RIGHT – it drives me insane!!

We have watched “Friends” every single night to go to sleep since the day we got married 5 years ago. I can’t sleep without watching an episode of “Friends” now. We watch them in order and have been through the entire 10 seasons about 100 times.

  4. I like tight sheets that are tucked in at the bottom.

We also spoon, we go to sleep in the same position every night…unless one of the rib-jabbers sneaks into our bed. Then it is all over! :)

  5. I can only sleep on the right side of the bed, I like to have the window cracked open (even in winter, cannot STAND to be too hot when I sleep), sleep with a fan on for white noise, fall asleep with TV on (volume turned almost all the way down), must have two pillows.

Sheesh – am I high maintenance or what?! :-)

  6. I like two pillows. One to sleep on and one to hug. The huggable one has to be squishy, of course.

I sleep in socks in the winter, but not in the summer.

  7. no, we have no routine. We sleep on either side of the bed…blankets, no blankets…it doesn’t matter. Socks, no socks…I don’t care. I do however have a texture fetish, so I have to rub the top of the blanket or sheet-like the soft silky part, (I have done that ever since I can remember), But whatever. Dans arm hair will do if I can’t find a blanket. I just need me some Daniel and I am good to go. I mean sleep. I am good to sleep.

  8. Brandi, you guys spoon??? THat is the sweetest thing ever!! Jake and I used to do that when we were FIRST married….for like the first year. Now you could fit a person (or two or three  ) in between us. I discovered I really don’t like to be touched and neither does he (when we’re sleeping). We were both just spooning in the beginning b/c we thought the other wanted to. HAHAHAHA!! Oh so funny!

  9. My sleeping musts:

Kids must ALL be asleep first.
    Dog must be quiet. :???:
    Pillow must be COLD.
MUST BE perfectly silent. NO NOISE AT ALL.
NO FAN…although Jake has the ceiling fan on so that means I have to hide UNDER our comforter with a little opening for my mouth so I can breath.
    No socks.
Clothing optional… but actually, nevermind, that is a must too. Kiddos.

Oh and I like to touch JUST Jake’s toes with mine. Anymore of us touching than that and I can’t sleep. So I was a bit wrong when I said to Brandi up there that we don’t touch…just our toes. That’s it.

    Okay, I’m wierd.

  10. two pillows with clean cases.
    on my right side.
right hand under the top pillow and on the bottom pillow.
left leg outside the covers (only up to my knee typically), but on top of the right leg that is in the covers.
    No touching.
Left arm completely outside the covers and either laying on my side or hand on top of the top pillow (if there is room for it without touching my face at all, I really meant it when I said no touching! :-) ).

  11. Cindy: how did you know!?!?

reading through these comments has definitely made me feel less crazy.
but, i would say that you spooners and touchers – well, y’all are clearly the weird ones. you’re obviously in the minority around here!!!

i think some of you win the crazy award for the day. wow.
    and i mean WOW.

  12. I have to have socks on also, fan is a must, three pillows, I sleep in the middle of the bed and no top sheet. It just gets smushed to the end of the bed so what is the point anyway? I never make my bed in the morning……it is totally pointless because the next time I get in it I am going to sleep so why bother?

  13. i don’t like to be touched in my sleep. we have a king bed for this reason. don’t spoon me. please dont spoon me. and it has to be pitch dark. but not completely quiet. a little noise is soothing to me. and my feet can never feel trapped. so brandi if i ever visit you….dont bother getting a guest bed ready for me…i’ll just tear it right up ;)

  14. not a spooner or a toucher. in fact, i can’t sleep if my husband is touching me at all; he jerks his arm or something when he falls asleep and considering he falls asleep quicker than me, it always wakes me up.

i have a woobie – an extra blanket that is multipurpose in function. I can use it to supplement my pillows, as something to hug, as a light blanket if i get too hot and i throw off the quilt.

but, i can’t sleep without my woobie. i usually bring it on vacation with me.

  15. goodnight KA!!!

ramsey: yes ma’am!!! WHY make the bed? WHY?

tam: you don’t have issues. you’re perfectly normal. you’re not weird at all. in any way. ever.

sarah: the fact that you’d admit to a woobie on the www makes me respect you all the more. or not.

  16. wow…i’m amazed at all of the stipulations people have just to get into bed at night! I’m pretty simple…no socks, my toes need to breathe. 1 pillow, 1 blanket, 1 top sheet and i’m good to go. Oh, and nothing from the outside world can touch my sheets….if something does my sheets are now dirty and need to be washed. ex. shoes, books, clothes i wore to work, purse, etc. So i guess i’m just as weird….

  17. My friend has this obsession with her sheets. We live in a dorm, so lots of girls come and sit on her bed, eat on her bed, etc…She vacuums her bed because of possible crumbs that could be on the bed. She also has to have them perfectly creased and tucked in the right way or else it just annoys the crap out of her. She’s getting married to a slightly messy boy in a week. She will be sheet issues, too. I don’t wish to reveal how often I washed my sheets in school, but she washed hers every week.
Do people really wash their sheets every week, or am I just…dirty? haha.

  18. NO SOCKS!!!

i have to fall asleep on my right side…can eventually sleep on my stomach, but never on my back or left side? i’m an extremely light sleeper, which has become a not-so-good problem with a 13 month old…

@becca – yes sheets are washed at least once a week!!! we have two sets to rotate from time to time as well..

  19. i am shocked that my wife has not commented on this yet. you should ask her about her sleeping habits. As for me…

    -2 to 3 pillows
    -”no tuck” (sheets that is)
    -a fan

that’s it…other than that, not really picky!

  20. I HAVE to sleep on the left side-facing out, with one foot out of the covers, NEVER socks, and 10 months out of the year a very big pile of blankets…at about 58degrees is perfect.
NO noise, or turn on the fan-just dont let it blow in my face, and I cannot sleep with any light one. That about does it for my sleep wierdness. I think.

  21. Lets see.

When I go to sleep in a bed. It has to be cold. I have to have a sheet, then a another medium blanket and then a comforter. All of them covering my. One arm under my pillow and my other arm holding a extra blanket or pillow. I can’t fall asleep with with a shirt or socks on. My pillow case has to be clean. Usually changed every 2 or 3 days. I also have to music and set it on sleep for 60 minutes.

Now with all that said that doesn’t mean that is the only way I can fall asleep. I can fall asleep at anytime anywhere. Literally.

  22. Your blog cracks me up! I just started reading last week. You are a hoot. You can put into words what everyone thinks.
    rules for the bed:
    No TV
    NO flat sheet
    Colder the better
    No socks EVER
As a kid I would have my mom put my favorite blanket in the freezer. It was silky on one side. The silk got so cold. This was a must when I had the flu. Now I don’t sleep with a blankie (I’m a big girl now), but there are nights when I wish my pillowcase was that cold.

  23. Two pillows, one under my head, one between my legs. I have to sleep on my side or I will wake up a little more than halfway through from immense back pain. I LOVE white noise… and pitch darkness… absolutely love them!

  24. becca — yeah, i think most people wash/change their sheets every week. fess up — you didn’t change yours all semester, did you?

    my sleep routine:

stay up very, very, very late
drink a melatonin tablet (sometimes 2 of them) to help my brain shut down
do some mindless fiction reading or sudoko-playing
fall asleep on my back, with a very particular pillow
sleep on my side during the night
sleep very, very, very late… oh wait. that’s only in my dream.

  25. Temp no higher than 68 degrees, NO SOCKS, cool pillow, ear plugs and box fan.
I like to get at least a thirty minute headstart to dreamland before my snorebuddy..er …bed buddy comes to bed….wow, reading this makes me realize I am seriously high maintenance.

  26. I am not crazy high maintenence but do like my own pillow and body pillow too. (Got hooked on it when I was pregnant.)

When we were first married I did not like to be touched. I don’t know why. But through the years I have changed. He loved to be touching to fall asleep and spooning and all that stuff. Now we sleep all tangled up together. I can’t sleep unless part of me is touching my man. When it is terribly hot sometimes it is just holding his hand, but honestly, half of the time my leg is thrown over him or I prop myself up against him so my back stops hurting. Awwww…he is the best! I’m so glad I changed.

  27. becca: vacuuming????

mark: my impression is that she DOESN’T sleep!

keven: “when i sleep in a bed”…? um. what else do you sleep in?

jend: blanket in the freezer? ok. that might just be the weirdest one yet. ps: welcome!!! stay! love your blog!!!

jmay: you sleep like a girl. i’m just sayin.

alece: you & cathi need to compare notes. wait. you already have.

heather b: wow. never knew you were so high maintenance [insert sarcasm and grin]

teri: there’s hope for us all!!!!

    brent: of course! of course….

b&c: y’all arguing on my blog? please, don’t let me interrupt

  28. lot’s of airconditioning… can’t have too much, because I like to pull the covers over me about half way through the night. Since I’m always hot, that means the air needs to be on full blast. I also have to turn completely over in stages (360 degrees, start on back, end on back) before I can go to sleep. About every week or so, I try to get to sleep without turning over and find I can’t do it.

  29. Nooooo socks! I feel terrible in socks :( I have to take my lenses out; if I fall asleep with them in, my sleep is ruined. I am a light sleeper too so it’s a little frustrating when the slightest noise hubby makes [opening the closet, setting down something on the dresser, GETTING INTO BED after I've fallen asleep] can be quite lethal [for him, not me!] HAHA

  30. I sleep tons of places. Sometimes I sleep on the couch or in a chair. When I go to one of my friends house I never sleep in a bed cause I like to sleep in the theater room. you can sleep anywhere~ lol
