pick a name, any name

June 22, 2008 · 12 Comments

so. last weekend, the news reported a guy in Illinois who changed his name to “In God We Trust”

it reminded me of Hosea’s kids. have you paid attention to the meaning of those names? “not my people” just makes me sad for the kid.

anyway, where was i going with this? oh yeah, let’s say we Christians decided to change our names in order to make a BOLD and RESOUNDING statement about our faith - what would YOUR name be?

me? dang. i’ve gotta think about this… hmmmm………….

ht: already, but not yet

    His Servant

Originally I thought God’s Child or God’s Servant, but I couldn’t handle sharing a name with the Almighty.

And “His” causes people to ask you more questions.

Kristi is a female name of Latin [1] origin, meaning “follower of Christ”. Other spellings include Krystie, Christie, Christy, Kristy, Kristie, Christi, Kristee and Krysty.

Kristi may have originated from, and can be the short form of, many forenames including Kristina, Kristine and Kristen, the common bases of which is “Krist”, meaning “Christ”.

Cool. I would keep it “follower of Christ”. My parents rock the house.

    I was thinking about Mandy.

Not sure what it means, but I don’t care, it has a certain ring to it.

I think I’ll try it on this week and see how it goes :)

    I think I’ll go with:

    2nd Peter

    John Wayne

Jeremy (God will uplift) Joshua (Yahweh saves) Kaiser. I could keep my initials that way so the whole process would be less confusing.

Funny story: When I first got saved, my pastor told me I was a new creature, that my name had “changed.” I thought this meant literaly LOL and I had to change my name because now I was a Christian. Twas quite humorous!

Ahem. Anyway. I think my name would be DRRAS [delivered, redeemed, restored and saved]. Pronounced “dr-ah-s.” Yup I totally came up with that myself.

My first job out of high school was in a company’s the payroll department. On her payroll form one women’s middle name was “Immaculate Conception”.

The most inspiring first name I have seen is the only our aussie friend goes by “Love”.

The Native American traditional names are a lot more descriptive than European names, “He Who Walks On Water”, etc. Of course mine might be “Old Bald Man Who Snores”. :)

so… mandy - did you decide what yours would be?

my creative juices stopped flowing, so i don’t have much… if i had to pick right now. i’d be just…

Well…since Jennifer means “fair or white lady”…yuck…I’ll pick something like Abigail or Elizabeth. I was just listening to a sermon on Abigail and how discerning she was…it’s also a name I’d name my daughter if I ever had one! Abigail Elizabeth…stick them both together!

My boys…Titus Daniel and Noah James. Loved them both for their meanings!
