i die without this

June 26, 2008 · 38 Comments

authenticity

it’s like a daily pill for me. if i don’t get it, i shrivel away on the inside.

if i don’t have it in my significant relationships, i will feel completely isolated.

one thing i want to offer here is authenticity.

because i die without this.

what do you want offered here?

Whatever pill you are peddlin’ is my vice of choice.

  • Cindy Beall // June 26, 2008 at 9:22 am

    Your heart.

  • Travis // June 26, 2008 at 10:10 am

I need Drew to come eat Willie’s Weenie Wagon with me.

  • Drew // June 26, 2008 at 11:07 am

    no kidding.
though I heard the food quality has declined of late.
I’m coming in August–we’ll get some time.

  • JudiFree.com // June 26, 2008 at 11:14 am

same! authenticity from blogs has changed my life.

  • BuddyO // June 26, 2008 at 11:29 am

More arguing, name calling and Christian in-fighting….

Wait, there’s plenty of other places to get that… this blog is fine the way it is…

  • Michelle // June 26, 2008 at 11:46 am

Connection…I guess that’s just another way of saying the same. I want REAL.

  • heatherblankenship // June 26, 2008 at 12:34 pm

I just love getting a glimpse of your heart mandy and your humor!! miss you!

  • heatherblankenship // June 26, 2008 at 12:34 pm

Oh and are you coming in Aug with Drew??? If so, you better make some time for me!! haha at least ten minutes!

  • TheNorEaster // June 26, 2008 at 12:52 pm

Charlatans REPEL me. To the 68th power of the Nth degree. I can’t even BEGIN to tell you…

  • Natalie Witcher // June 26, 2008 at 12:56 pm

    donuts

no, seriously, I like you being real. Then I think I really know you!!!

  • mandythompson // June 26, 2008 at 1:08 pm

Nat: you do really know me.

    TheNor: what’s a charlatan??

Heather: he’s staying a week longer than me. i’ll be with my family for the weekend, then back up here for work. :(

Red: totally the same. without authenticity there’s no real genuine connection.

BO: :) tam and i are putting our weapons down. sometime. soon. maybe.

Judi: changed me as well. in so many ways. i think authenticity creates an inviting atmosphere to really connect. to come out of hiding. to show our true selves.

    Drew: i love you

    Travis: hug gracie

    Cindy: you got it baby!!!

@ng: i think i’m gonna start selling on the black market - what do you think??

    Josh: anytime!!!

    Becca: yes. knew you’d agree.

  • TheNorEaster // June 26, 2008 at 1:14 pm

Charlatan: one who makes fraudulent and elaborate claims to skill or knowledge

  • mandythompson // June 26, 2008 at 1:18 pm

    ahhhh…. so, you’re callin’ me a liar?

  • BuddyO // June 26, 2008 at 1:31 pm

    Hey, I wasn’t talking about you guys…

I was complimenting you on how your blog rises above the fray. How different it is than many other Christian blogs…

    geez… ;)

BTW: I’m no longer auto logged-in (aka with the little WP toolbar at the top) on your site now for some reason. Other WP sites it’s still there… maybe a prob?

  • mandythompson // June 26, 2008 at 1:52 pm

    i didn’t kick you off! :) i promise.
and i forgot to place [insert sarcasm] in my reply for you. i was just kidding - knew you were too.

i actually made the conscious choice, when starting, to not use my blog as a place to beat up other Christians and declare to the world that SO-&-SO is messed up. or did the wrong thing. or sets a bad example, etc. like you said, there’s enough of that already. if i ever do make a critical or objecting comment about fellow Christians, please know that i’ve SERIOUSLY thought through whether or not i should say anything at all…
    so.
    amen brother BO!

  • jon mckanna // June 26, 2008 at 2:05 pm

    more music please…

  • mandythompson // June 26, 2008 at 2:18 pm

    REALLY? wow. ok.

  • givemejesus // June 26, 2008 at 2:21 pm

Honesty. Transparency. Fresh baked cookies warm from the oven. *sigh* Two out of three ain’t bad.

  • TheNorEaster // June 26, 2008 at 2:28 pm

    “ahhhh…. so, you’re callin’ me a liar?”

    Mandy:

If I thought for one second that you were a charlatan, I would have only visited your blog once and never have left a comment.

So, Yeah. If you think you are a charlatan then I am calling you a liar!

Liar Liar Mandy’s Pants on fire!!! :P

  • mandythompson // June 26, 2008 at 2:42 pm

GiveMe: well… i’d LOVE to give the fresh-baked cookies a try. but my apartment oven is only about 17 inches wide and burns the bottoms of everything. i can barely fit a cookie sheet in there. :( we’ll have to stick with what i’m good at!!!

TheNor: HAHAA!!! LIAR LIAR Mandy’s Pants on fire! thank you for your disclaimer. :)

  • @ngie // June 26, 2008 at 3:55 pm

    “Mandy the Dealer”… hm… uh… no, I don’t think so. :-)
Anyway, I don’t know that there is much of a demand for authenticity on the black market these days.

  • mandythompson // June 26, 2008 at 4:00 pm

HAHA! true! they’d probably kill me.
