I am on a plan…but I also stray a little because sometimes I get all worked up over “crossing it off my to do list” so sometimes I read and read like 5 days in one because God is leading me, and some days in my quiet time I don’t read at all, but just pray…because He is prompting me to do that. I think it is essential to keep scripture in our everyday lives…but I also think that we gotta make sure it doesn’t just become something we do without letting it penetrate us…a trap I have fallen into many times.
i did it once..in 2004. i know its been 4 years, but it was an amazing experience. i did it in order – genesis straight on thru revelation. i began in january and finished in late october. i haven’t done it since then. i should though.
I’ve been on an online plan for quite some time now.
QUITE some time!
Okay. All right. I signed up when I saw this post.
What can I say? I prefer paper!
KA: even though it might become “something we do” – don’t you think it’s still better than not reading at all? i know your answer is yes. i know.
Sarah Markley: TEN months? that’s impressive! what do you do now for your personal time?
TheNor:
i prefer paper as well. i have a printed plan that is all folded up to the size of a bookmark – sits in my bible and i can cross it off as i go. oh. i’m about 4 weeks behind.
I use “YouService” thanks for Brent’s suggestion.
isnt this a “special” day today Mandy???
Happy Happy…oh you didn’t post that yet!
okay I will come back and check later
tam. darla. sneaky sneaky women.
every Sunday is a special day.
Jon: i’ll check into YouService. thank you for mentioning it.
I get so side tracked and want to go research everything and always get off of the plan. boo!
A couple of years ago I found a One Year Bible. It’s laid out so that you read a little OT, NT, Psalms and Proverbs each day. I still can’t get through the entire thing in a year, though. I think it’s taken me closer to two years.
Jenny: I LOVE YOU!!!
Jenni: there’s a two year bible… i’m sure you can get your hands on one.
I have done that previously – but my Bible is my “tool box”. I try to take it to church and/or SS or any Bible study – i highlight it and mark it up – I study more than I read. I use a short devotional each morning that has scripture as well. a commentary is helpful as well.
Ouch! hurt me! no sneaky…love you!
Mandy, yes. Totally. I absolutely think it is more essential to stay and steady the course. Because duh! I am like full of every excuse not to read. So yeah, having a plan is a great tool. You are right. I just think that sometimes I (in my lameness) was like bla bla not paying attention to what I was reading and just trying to get through it to check it off. But God is bigger then that and doesn’t waste Bible reading time. Even if we do. If that makes any sense. It is still time well spent. Not like reading other stuff or watching tv. Okay then. Hi Tam.
Papa: i keep different color highlighters with me in my bible, because i have the New Inductive Study Bible and sometimes i pick a book and go through it like the guide says. now parts look like a rainbow bible!
Darla: hehe. love you too.
KA: yes. yes.
i read the bible through in a year only once. back in high school or shortly after. i don’t really have a desire to do it again. is that bad?
