Not Exactly what I had in Mind

I got an email last Friday telling the following story:

This morning my very wise coworker and I were talking and she mentioned the scripture where God says to those that are given much…

She was talking about as Americans we are given much so we should be Doing something. So I was telling her about your blog and how your theme is Doing and

She was like “What is she doing to make the world a better place?”

And I smiled as I said well… this morning she put up a video about how she introduced a friend from Ireland how to dip cookies into milk.

It was hilarious how that conversation played out!

LOL!!!!!

Are y’all getting it? That this is more about real DOing, and less about cookies?

;)

Tell me: Are you DOing anything? Are any real DOings being added to your life?

  1. Am I doing anything? Well. Sort of. This will sound selfish at first. But it’s not.

I feel like DOing doesn’t neccessarily have to be the most far fetched, far reaching thing I can think of. It can be right here at home. I really was happy to hear you say that great parenting can change the face of the world, b/c that is where I’ve chosen to focus. At home. On the family. I think part of DOing is also doing what God has set before you and given you the heart and resources to do. And right now, the season of life I am in, everything starts at home. I’m hopefully going to expound (alece, heehee) more on this when I do my post.

Other than that, I am LOVING all the tips you gave the other day, including the goodsearch one. I make Jake use goodsearch now for everything, b/c he is a google addict. He googles EVERYTHING. Well, now he goodsearches everything. ;-)

  2. I have been helping kids get reconnected with family that they had not seen in years. One girl had not seen her brother in 2 years and I was able to help be apart of that reunion and on Friday one of kids met his biological mom for the first time since he was a baby and had been removed from the home. He is 16 now. Hopefully this week,I will help facilitate a transition for a kid to an adoptive family. it is that kind of stuff that keeps me DOing my job!

  3. Bran: I hope you can hear me cheering you on from Boston! :)

Steph: subtle plug – nice!!! ;)

TJ: I HOPE she got a kick out of it!!!

    Ramsey: wow… WOW.

Al: I’m sure TAM would say it’s all about cookies.

  4. It is hard to determine if I am doing enough but I have become a sounding board for some ministry leaders that I have never met. They are looking for peer opinions without any backlash from their community if they chose not to implement certain ideas. It is hard to explain.

I am also trying to encourage some younger women regarding their abilities to minister in their environment. I don’t think that it matters what our age or sex or education is to help people find Jesus. We just may have to reevaluate who we are trying to lead to him. Wrong or Right??? Really need an opinion.

  5. Oh Mandy! It’s so late and this old woman is still up and ‘Doing’ one of the most challenging yet potentially helpful thing I may contribute to right now.

Our Siesta friend Michelle over at Heart to Heart ask me to share my story with her readers.

Seems she’s getting all kinds of traffic, but folks are staying in the shadows…not commenting.

I can relate…when you are in the midst of such loss and perhaps dealing with people that just want you to get over ‘it’, and move on…you get skittish.

After much prayer God told me ‘do it’…so with heart pounding…I’m in.

I’m praying (and here’s my Mouse and Cookie thing) people will start sharing, emailing…just letting light into their darkness.

I would truly love to be knee deep in cookies!

  6. Mt: She is the sweetest lady ever and funny so from the look on her face I could tell that it was okay. Hey I put up a new post on my blog this morning and think you would like it.
