Sweet Sixteen

1. I like Indian food… mild Indian food.

2. I’m more than okay with the idea of living overseas.

3. Currently Reading: Autobiography of a Fat Bride (Laurie Notaro), Writing Better Lyrics (Pat Pattison), The Dream Giver (Bruce Wilkinson).

4. I often wonder just how much damage is being done to my body through exposure to growth hormones, pesticides, etc.

5. Other than my honeymoon in St. John, I’ve never traveled outside the continental U.S. This fact makes #2 rather surprising, and #1 rather fortunate.

6. The best of intentions (ie: an effort to counteract #4) won’t get me to the gym nearly as quickly as the discipline of putting on exercise clothes, grabbing my car keys, driving the car there, and climbing on the elliptical machine.

7. I spend too much time on the computer. This drastically slows the process of #3.

8. I’ve written more songs in the past two years than I expected. If I scratched #7, I’d probably write more.

9. I’m who I am today because of where I’ve been, who I’ve known, and what I’ve experienced.

10. I’m not as strong as I want to be.

11. I’m stronger than I think I am. This does not negate #10.

12. I know how to find spiders in the dark.

13. Some of my favorite memories involve the late night adventures of falling in love with Drew. (For more, see #12.)

14. I’m prone to addictions. (For example, see #7.)

15. Most days, I’d rather be in a t-shirt and jeans than dress up, but there’s that rare girlie moment when I want to look put-together.

16. I’m unbelievably frustrated by the process of learning to play the piano, namely because this involves a level of music literacy that I don’t currently possess.

Ok. Maybe not sixteen… How ’bout six random things about you? Or just one. Or three…

My mother made me keep taking. Finally when I was in the 8th grade, I just kept leaving my books at home on my lesson day. Finally my mom got the hint and let me quit but only because I was taking clarinet lessons also. My mother is a very accomplished musician. She plays the piano, organ, and violin…..what happened to me????

  6. mmm…. I’m so glad you figured it all out – even though it probably happened 20 years too late. I can’t imagine growing up under that pressure (spoken or unspoken) to be musically gifted.
Was the clarinet any better?? One note at a time?

    RUSSTY! :) hehe

Sarah: Well… You know what? The only reason YOU don’t have frozen pumpkins in your car is because you don’t live in Boston… And… And… it’s not freezing cold in So.Cal. BUT, if these things were true, you’d have frozen pumpkins as well. So. There! ;)
