Favorite…

Funny.

I learned something about my immune system this week. I’ve grown accustomed to the nasty yankee cold germs, and can successfully fight them off. But I’ve definitely lost my edge when it comes to the whole redneck germ family. Some managed to hitch a ride up north with me… yeah. And they’ve made themselves at home in my respiratory system.

Uninvited.

And there’s not enough Echinacea and Vitamin C in this apartment to evict them.

So, I’m probably gonna be stuck on the couch today – well, not stuck, but undergoing self-imposed resting. Probably watching more movies than I should, or staring at this laptop more than my itchy/watery eyes can withstand.

About being on the couch: what’s your favorite “I’m sick so please don’t make me do anything” past time?

Crossword puzzles, football games, Law & Order marathons

  2. mandy says:

I have 3 little ones, so there is no rest time…

But, when I think back to when I COULD have rest time it would have been old musicals.

  3. Heidi says:

    Sleep!!!

I usually get about 4 hours of sleep a day, so when I am sick I sleep.

watch alot of the TLC channel and read.

  4. alece says:

    oh man. feel better, friend.

my favorite do-nothing pastimes: backtoback tv show episodes, net-surfing, reading a Grisham novel, watching funny youtube videos…

    (i love your new banner!)

  5. Marisa says:

  8. ‘Tis the season to feel sick-ly
    Tra-la-la-la-laaaa la-la-la-laaa

i bet you’ve got you some Tam bugs!

Hurry up and get Bettah – BOTH of you ( and anyone else feeling down).

My fave passtime is sleeping – but i’m thinking you wanted something to do when you can’t???

Assuming there’s no-one you can play Cribbage with…

Try tuning along a radio dial and listening in to a talkback show – if that doesn’t end up making you want to kill yourself you might get mad enough to not care you’re ill and get up and write to someone about an issue! :-)

    Works for me! ;-)

    Get well!

Sorry to hear your sick, hope you get better soon.

You , Tam and Brandy are all sick at the same time. I know there are some pretty nasty viruses that can infect computers. I didn’t realize they could jump out of our computers and infect us in the real world.

I haven’t been sick a day since I retired, eleven years ago. When I have caught a cold/flu and needed rest the only thing besides sleeping was listening to music. If my mind could function well enough I did a lot of reading.

  10. ramsey72 says:

Watch old movies that I haven’t seen in a long time and sleep!

  11. Becoming Me says:

This is going to sound horrible…but when I am really sick and no one else is alone…I like to watch soap operas. I don’t even know the characters or the plots, but can quickly figure them out…somehow soaps have just the right dose of unintentional comedy and enough misery that makes me think “At lease my life isn’t that bad…” that adds some cheer to my sickened body. I just lost your respect, haven’t I?

  12. Susan says:

I used to watch old movies when I was sick – laying on the couch.
Since having kids, I have to have 102+ temp/strep throat/bronchitis before I seem to get a break. And it’s not the husband’s fault. I am my own worst enemy.
I hope you feel really better, really soon!

  13. Travis & Russ: Why am I NOT surprised!? :)

    Movies… Movies… OLD movies.

I like that. Like, “now and then” or “casablanca” or…. um…. the 5 hours of “pride & prejudice”.
    can i get an amen?

Well, I slept ’til 10 this morning, but that’s because I coughed ’til 2am. yeah. Might take a shower and go back to bed….
Then up for some movies or something!

  14. Michelle says:

    Sleep…”Friends” re-runs…Sleep…”Frasier” re-runs…Sleep…

  15. Joy Renée says:

Couch. Warm blankie. Remote in hand. OLD movies, yes. Raisinettes.

Oh, and lots of whining. I’m good at that.

  16. Janaki says:

    Here is my sicky regiment:

Bring pillow from bed to couch
Curl up with dog and throw blanket
    Sleep
Wake up, check blogs, tweets, facebook
    Sleep
    Wake up, check everything again
    Sleep
Husband comes home and makes me dinner.

  17. Dani says:

Oatmeal and sappy chick flicks and cozy blanket. :)

  18. Sorry you are sick with the crud. My past time is to lay around in my pj’s drinking hot tea and watch hallmark movies or Lifetime movies…you know, cheesy, no brainers! :) Oh and read blogs, facebook stalk and scrabble online! :)

  19. TheNorEaster says:

It’s right up there with yours, Mandy…

    …movies.

  20. Brandy says:

Sleep. hahaha!! Seriously, when I’m sick I could sleep ALL DAY.

When I was younger (teens), my mom used to let me sleep in her bed while she went to work. At lunch she’d always bring me KFC because I craved it whenever I was sick. I always looked forward to lunch time when she’d bring that, check on me, kiss my forehead, and then go back to work. ♥

  21. gitz says:

Oh man, Mandy… I’m so sorry you’re sick! I’m going to prescribe watching Lost… I know you are probably thinking you should wait to watch with the hubby, but it’s good to rewatch anyway because you catch more of the craziness. Just don’t dream about polar bears if you nod off in the middle of an episode. That could be creepy.

@Brandy: that is the sweetest thing I’ve heard all day. :)

@BecomingMe: that would only sound horrible to me if I didn’t watch General Hospital everyday… but I do. But I’m also sick every day so I think that gives me some sort of permission :)

  22. robin says:

mindless tv, yacking onthe phone, and super orangejuicy vitamin c fortified fruit smoothies…alternatng with 7up and napping:)P
    hope yer better soon!!
    hugs~

  23. Kim says:

I’m in the same boat you are this week. Finally went to the doctor yesterday for some antibiotics for my upper respiratory and sinus infections. Yeah me!

Today I had a big pot of turkey noodle soup going on the stove and the vaporizer with Vicks going in the living room. Lots of tv and laptop time…oh, and trying to keep the dog off of my spot on the couch.

    Feel better soon. :)

  24. TheNorEaster says:

Hmph. So. My avatar is gone here too, eh?

Well, at least I ain’t a kissing fish on this blog.

  25. Louise says:

    :( hope you’re better soon

napping for me – I do love to kip.

    I’d be with Janaki

    Here is my sicky regiment:

Bring pillows from bed to couch
Curl up with cats and throw blanket
    Sleep
Wake up, get some juice, flick through the channels (we only have four), find nothing on, try to read a bit
    Sleep
Wake up, get more juice – or hot water with honey and lemon juice if I can stomach it, try reading again
    Sleep
Husband checks on me regularly to see if he can do anything

  26. Style Network or Food Network, my laptop AND Sudoku puzzles.

Sorry you’re sick. I hate being sick.

  27. Dan says:

watching reruns of Law and Order all day long!

  28. Jenni Catron says:

Read, always looking for an excuse to read.

    Hope you are feeling better!
