Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

I used to watch them on PBS as a kid. I watched LOTS of music shows on PBS as a kid. Tonight, we’ll be driving or training or subwaying to see the opening night of the Boston Pops’ Holiday Concert series. (YAY MOM for getting us the tickets!)

Can I just admit that I’m one of those people that gets tired of hearing all the Holiday music before we get close to the Holiday? Even though I wasn’t excited when my beloved Starbucks pulled out the wintry red cups in Mid-November…. And, despite the fact that, when I just HAD to go to the mall the week before Thanksgiving, I was accosted by retail sound systems blaring premature Christmas music… I think I might just be excited about hearing all this amazing Holiday music tonight.

The weather outside will be frightfully frightful, all the COLD rain might freeze when the sun goes down, but we’re still going… Dressed up and everything. I’ve never heard an orchestra live, and I really really look forward to having this music swirl around my head.

So. Yeah. I’m all up in the Christmas spirit right now.

What does it take to chase your bah-humbug away??

  1. We don’t do it every year, but when we go see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra live, it really puts me in the Holiday mood. AHHH-MAZ-ING!!!!

When we don’t go see them, Disneyland will do it.

It’s hard in my house because my mom really really really loves Christmas. We decorate like crazy, etc. She listens to the Christmas-all-the-time radio stations as soon as they start. And I like to take my time…I need some sort of bigger catalyst to really put me in the mood.

  2. Nothing. I don’t think I was born with any Bah-humbug in me…. ;)

I’m one of those annoying, I-could-sing-Christmas-Carols-all-year-long kinda girls. I loves me some Christmas!

  3. First of all I’m so jealous you get to do that. My mom tortured me as a kid and took me to all that stuff. Now, I love it!!!

Secondly…I hate grumpy people. I don’t care what season we are in. You can be in a bad mood, but don’t take it out on me. Fake it for a minute. :)

  4. Opening night tickets to the Boston Pops, wow!
    What a great gift.

Will we see pictures of your glam “red carpet” threads?

I have been to one of their 4th of July concerts but never the holiday one.

Music that makes me dance always lift’s my spirits.

The look of wonder on the faces of little children is one of the best places to look for the spirit of Christmas.

  5. you have never heard an orchestra live???

oh my gosh. and i’m jealous that you are seeing the boston pops. you will have so much fun.

i really miss you right now.

    can you come to california?

  6. loved all the pics on Twitter… I can’t wait to hear what you thought!

I don’t get bah humbugy, but it probably helps that I’m not out and about being inundated with it either. In my little condo with my little dog, the soft glow of Christmas lights and the warmth of a fire… there are no bah humbugs allowed. :)

  7. It’s not an easy Christmas season here for various reasons.

I chase the blues by listening to “the Christmas sessions” CD (Mercy Me) while doing housework.

  8. JR: oh don’t worry, you’re secret is safe with us… and the rest of the www.

    Russ: You’re such a softy!

    Fran: fake it! haha

H: :) That would be fantastic!!

Ed & Sarah & Alece & Gitz: Workin’ on a post for this afternoon.

Susan: I think that’s part of it for me, I know that so many people silently suffer it out during Christmas. It’s not an easy season for many.
