Give me a set of drums and a couple of electric guitars and you’ll be able to hear what was in my head when I wrote this:
It’s 8 am, and I’m already late for a
day that won’t quit and a world of mistakes. So i
hit the ground running ten minutes too late
and walk to work, in the wind. She sits in the window 2-dimensioned perfection
A body to kill for and a perfect complexion.
And then in the glass I see the reflection
of an exceptionally BAD hair day.I wanna run and scream
“Don’t look at me!
I’m not that beautiful, I’ll never be.
You’ll be lucky if you see
….the perfect me. the perfect me.”With the time and the money I could look this way,
but most days, honey, I don’t even shave!
Is that how those world-class models behave?
They’re gonna make me lose my mind!I can’t compete… with the beauty around me.
The million-dollar models… are they even real?!?
i really dig this one.
You are amazing, my cousin Mandy!
I like it!
I love the switches to talking.
The chorus is going to be in my head all day!
Good song!
I can hear some drum stuff too. Wonder if what you hear and what i hear are similar.
Ha.
YAY! Glad y’all like. I think I like this one too, which doesn’t happen very often. believe it or not.
Russ: Totally – if you listen really closely, you can hear all sorts of stuff in there.
I think you have another keeper. I can also see where with drums and electric guitars this could be great R&R blast.
I really like the second verse:
“She sits in the window 2-dimensioned perfection
A body to kill for and a perfect complexion.
And then in the glass I see the reflection
of an exceptionally BAD hair day.”
also:
“With the time and the money I could look this way,
but most days, honey, I don’t even shave!”
Ed: That NON-rhyming bridge is for YOU, sir…. YOU.
It’s funny. After awhile I don’t like the songs I write. I wonder if Chris Tomlin ever feels that way.
I love this song Mandy. It sounds raw and very cool. Love your voice.
sheesh. i didnt notice the audio clip when i was here earlier.
this song makes me smile. and laugh. and you know…it kinda feels liberating!
i actually, in my mind, saw this as a music video as i was listening. as the song goes along, more EVERY DAY, NORMAL women join you as you lead them down a busy street playing your guitar and singing to all the misleading window displays. all the women are beautiful in their own way and having fun walking down the sidewalk with each other.
love. it.
Peter/Unexpected:
If Tomlin doesn’t, then we’re all clear!!
Tam: hi
hey
howdy
yo
You guys crack me up
But yeah, like the general consensus – great song, want to hear those drums other than just in my head (though that’s good too).
Good to go. vurry vurry nice
Didn’t need to have the rest of the band on this recording because I could hear them loud and clear! Production quality of this song could be HUGE!
Okay, seriously, I saw it like Tam said, as a music video. Totally played it out in my head and I could SEE it all. Weird.
I like it a lot. It’s like you stole thoughts out of my head as of late, and I kinda want them back because I never meant for anyone to actually KNOW I had them.
This is the first song of yours I’ve listened to. It won’t be the last. Do you have any idea the number of people that can relate to this?
