Deodorant: Yes or No…?

Well… See…? What had happened was….

My little accu-weather firefox add-on told me the weather outside boasted 9 degrees  when I prepped for my day. 9 = COLD. So, in an effort to be budget-conscious, I decided to save my deodorant for a later day.

And, well, now I might be regretting that decision.

Let’s rephrase: my co-workers might be regretting that decision.

And then there’s the ENTIRE faculty of our seminary. I’m leading worship for them this afternoon (I’m starting to sweat just typing this). Sure, it’ll be 5 minutes of music, but it’s the SEMINARY FACULTY. Some of you have probably read books by these guys. Your preacher definitely knows a few of these names.

Can somebody email me some Secret or something???

Anyway, back to you: Do you forego deodorant…? Intentionally?

I can’t believe you posted about this. HAHA!!

I do not intentionaly forego it when I leave the house. Ever. I’m always hot though so that could be why.

At home it’s a different story.

  2. boffthewall says:

You could swing by the store…happen to find an open stick of deodorant on the shelf…and accidently swipe some on quickly….

    Just a thought…ya know…cause i’ve never done that before. :-)

  3. Brandy says:

    ^^^ OH MY WORD!!!! ^^^

  4. Brooke… Honey… Please tell me you’re kidding.

  5. Wow. Um, no, I’ve never gone without it on purpose. As a matter of fact, I keep a mini deodorant in my purse. I guess if you can’t get to the store (to BUY SOME!) between now and the worship time, you could use soap and paper towels in the restroom to freshen up…?

  6. Can’t wait to hear how it goes. You’ll be great.
    Praying.

bwa ha ha ah ha haha ha haha ha

  8. Ed says:

Having an somewhat OCD personality I have never left the house without using deodorant.

I take a shower every night then another in the morning. In the summer I often take a shower in the middle of the day. If we have a drought, and the water table gets low, you can blame me.

boffthewall, thanks for that rather disturbing piece of info. Dt. Monk is on your trail. :)

  9. I also DIDN’T SHOWER today.
    This is not going well.
    at.
    all.

  10. just stay away from the new smell amplifying microphones. just do that and you’ll be fine.

  11. Never evah do I go without. Ever.

    I’m sorry.

  12. Brandy says:

you didn’t shower today either?! Oh girl this is getting better and better!!!!

  13. Worship music with the faculty is DONE.

But I had to walk ALLTHEWAYACROSSCAMPUS to get there.

    This is not good.

  14. LSOF says:

Go into the bathroom, and throw some soap under your arms…it will make you fresh:)
As if all of us haven’t done this LOL!!!

  15. I don’t even wear any ever.

  16. alece says:

i have never considered the temperature as a reason to not wear deodorant. hmmm…

but i sweat like a teenage boy even when i’m cold. so, i haven’t ever intentionally skipped my deo.

[on a non-shower day!!!??? FRIEND! ha!]

  17. Marisa says:

Nope. I’ve never even considered it.

But I think we just about always have deodorant-worthy weather here.

Still, it’s such a part of my routine, I don’t think I could forego it and not be thinking about it every second of the day.

  18. Travis says:

I am curious to know just what kind of financial benefit you expected to gain from a day of no deodorant. Not to mention that many sweat more when its cold due to layers, no ventilation and your body working harder to stay warm.

Was that even a whole dime?

  19. Brenda says:

NEVER!!! This would be a nightmare for me. I have been known to keep a tiny bottle in my car glove box. And… the only place I would go without showering first is running.

  20. A penny saved, Trav. A penny saved.

  21. DeoDeo..?

    Dodeo…?

    Deodoro…?

    Wha??

    ( the jerk) :-)

  22. gitz says:

    WHA?!?!?!

I’m with Alece… the temp outside has nothing to do with it in my mind.

If it makes you feel any better, Matthew McCaunaghey (I totally just spelled that wrong but am too lazy to google it) never wears deodorant. Ever. He says his natural scent attracts women. Which I find funny because the minute I read that he became less attractive to me…

  23. annie says:

haha! Well, I’m glad you got through your day. I have washed my pits in the sink before as a temporary fix. Also, rubbing alcohol removes a good deal of the ‘stink’ stuff.

Glad you got through your day. : )

  24. For the record. I applied deodorant about an hour ago…

    :)

  25. alece says:

[gitz -- i'd agree. hearing that about mcconauhottie kinda skeeved me out.]

  26. Joy Renée says:

i NEVER intentionally leave out the deoderant!!! in an act of complete unfairness, God gave me the sweat glands of a 200 lbs. middle-aged man.

but i have accidentally forgotten it before. out of desperation, i applied the only “smell good” thing i had on me–lotion. surprisingly, it kinda worked.

then i learned that sometimes you sweat more under your arms the more dry your skin is. so moisturize, then deoderize. huh.

  27. Joy Renée says:

i never thought matthew mack-hon-uh-hay could do ANYTHING to make him less cute…until i read gitz’s comment.

his level 10 on the hotness scale just dropped to a sad 4ish.

i’m pretty forgiving tho….check back in a week and see how i feel then…

  28. Candi says:

Since we’re confessing. . .I hadn’t showered since Monday. (Today is Wednesday.) I used no deodorant in that time. My husband and daughter still hugged me.

I showered today. I used deodorant. I feel human again.

I usually shower every day. Eventually.

Depending on the hour I shower, deodorant happens or not.

Thanks for the confessional. I’ll always think of you now when I apply deodorant.

  29. David says:

In Brisbane (sub-tropical), my economics teacher always told us that there is nowhere on earth where it’s acceptable to go without a shower in a can.

That said, um…I don’t shower every day either. In some circles (ie: 98.6% of Australia) this is almost considered criminal, but I like conserving water.

And I don’t always remember where my shower in a can is…

  30. Joy Renée says:

there ARE studies that say that showering everyday can lessen your body’s defense against sickness, because of the “shock” of the over-cleansing or something like that. especially if you’re prone to dry skin.

so…candi and david, you’re in the clear! you’ll be way healthier than the rest of the (clean) world. ;)

  31. JR: THIS explains why I don’t get sick much since moving to New England. hmmmm….

  32. V says:

Ha! Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting, Mandy. Your blog definitely hits on a lot of hot topics and gets some great comments — especially the ones about “the talk.” Wow. Way to “sweat” ‘em out. ;-)
