Last week, my mom asked if I knew about tweeting and skype. She said she’s been hearing about that stuff and wondered if I knew about it. (grin – hi mom!) And if I tweeted.
I said I did, and then asked what she thought… She actually has twitter figured out, and could probably do a better job of explaining it than I could. And, in regards to skype, she’s actually considering getting a web-cam.
I was impressed.
So, yeah. Do you know about tweeting?

Skype is a free web-service where you can talk computer to computer (web-cam video to video, or just audio to audio) FOR FREE.
Even international.
It’s fantastic. I use it for a few international friends – and LOOOOOVE it!

I love twitter, but I’ve been a slacker lately and I miss it. I finally have wireless internet, but now have to figure out a way to walk on crutches and move a laptop around my house without killing myself. (Should have thought of that dilemma before the wireless purchase, but I’m a little slow sometimes). I’ve decided I need a mini-shopping cart to walk around my condo!
I have Skype, which has been great since I can’t travel home on holidays anymore… my nieces and nephews will Skype me all through their Christmas weekend at my parents. When my nephew Christian was 6 he Skyped me to ask if he could have a pop… he was afraid all the adults there would say no, but he knew I’d say yes. Cracked.me.up.
my brother now lives in scotland and family uses skype to stay in touch.
regarding twitter, i’ve not bought into it yet, but could be convinced… is it just the next fad? how and why should i twitter?

i tried explaining twitter to my mom once. i’m not sure how well that went, but she smiles and nods whenever i say something about it. she might get it now that i’ve shown her ashton kutcher’s and demi moore’s. she loves bruce willis, so i showed it to her when they did the q&a with him. she got such a kick out of it.
That is funny!!! I wonder what stuff our kids will be explaining to us one day. And I wonder if we’ll even understand it!

but i don’t know–some of my mom’s 4th graders already have blackberry’s. it’ll be crazy to see the kind of stuff my kids will understand that i don’t.
As with many other’s Twitter has been killing my blog.
I find Twitter more fun, and much easier to use, than blogs. It takes an hour or more for me to compose a blog post and only about 5 minutes to put up a tweet.
Blogs are much better for discussions because you can go into more detail, your not limited to just 140 characters.
I have a skype account, but I only use it for a science book club discussion I joined.

I use twitter http://www.twitter.com/rgmmusic and skype-rgmmusic, though I definitely use twitter a lot more than skype. I have done most of my video calls using google chat.
Skype every day. All day at work – we use it for almost everything communications-wise.
