Creating can get complicated at times…

Yes, I intentionally kept you from seeing my kitchen sink and toilet, and the big pile of papers on my coffee table. You’re welcome!

Our creative community blog is here.

What about y’all? What’s your creative process like?

  1. See, I have avoided the questions Russ posted over at OCC cuz ya’all are so far out my league it’s not funny. I much prefer to watch and listen as the likelihood of me “creating” anything is slim.
It’s a pleasure to see ya unfold!
    Thanks!

  2. I just sit down with my guitar, paper, pen and I just free flow. I sing whatever comes out, like the verse…out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. This is the way I’ve written all my songs. Sometimes it comes together in 30 minutes other times it takes a few days, but I enjoy it when I can do it.

    P.S. I love your accent.

  3. I just have to say that I love love the 4 flower pics that you did. They are so good! I love daisies and they totally remind me of daisies :)

  4. You are my bloggity hero! I hope you find time to dabble in your visual arts from time to time. I bet you might find it helps your songwriting when you get a little stuck.

    I love the flowers, too!

  5. You are a real person Mandy.

Everything you do here on the blog, in your videos, in your songs, even in letting us see you bathroom just drips with authenticity.

    Thank you for that.

    See ya’ later alligator.
    :-)

Oh, and FYI, 6 of my 8 high school classes my senior year were creative in nature. Cousins, I tell ya’! Long lost cousins we are.

  6. Hi Mandy,

Great video. I can totally relate to your passion to create, how you don’t feel fully alive unless you’re creating. I’ve seen your comments on Sarah Markley’s blog and thought I’d stop by.

    Love your heart. God bless!

    Brad

  7. Draw, sculpt and sing, you are one triple threat lady. As busy as you are I can understand why you need your caffeine.

As much as I thrive on experiencing art I have not created one darn thing. I am an artistic spectator.

I guess I do use writing to express my creativity. Creating for me tends to be a spontaneous process. My mind, or as much of it as I have left :) ,tends to be going non-stop all day. I think of something, I write it down. I lack your discipline to keep working on when it isn’t coming together. Once I stop a project that is usually it. I am off to the next idea. When I have had to, like at work, I will keep plugging along, rewrite after rewrite, until the deadline.

I am something of a perfectionist, so I am never satisfied with anything I write. My problem has been learning to stop before the frustration level gets too high.

I have been very impressed with the progress you are making on your challenge. Your talent and your discipline.

  8. Great to hear you speak Mandy and enjoy your accent!!! You are so much more warm in real life than your profile pic shows :)

Looking forward to the days when I will create songs again. Now my time is spent creating songs for my children and rarely having time to pen them as they are in the spur of the moment – so often that may not return! Or something else is more pressing.

I certainly concur with your statement about living life creating all the time and wondering what you’d do if you were not creating.

Thanks for visiting me as well.

    Happy creating!

  9. My creative process…yeah I am not really creative person. I have gifts in other areas. I can organize anything for example. It sounds really boring, but I just don’t have that creative thang.

  10. I love how everyone of us insists we are not that creative! The very thing that proves we are!

Mandy you’re awesome! Loved feeling like I know you a little bit better…

    Keep up the amazing work!

    • Hey! Thanks for stopping by. And I agree that we all say we’re not very creative. I think it’s because we all know how hard we have to work to come up with a halfway decent idea! ;)
