25: Maybe Then

Here’s a scratch recording of my latest. It’s not so much about me as it is about the general feeling not being good enough for someone else.

If Tuesday was my favorite weekend
If sunshine followed me around all day
If international symphonies were playing all the songs I sing
Maybe then you’d think of me

If Hanson was my favorite rock band
If Oprah called me her best friend
If baboons and bazookas were my favorite stuff
maybe then I’d be good enough

MAYBE THEN YOU’D SEE ME
MAYBE THEN YOU’D WANT ME
MAYBE THEN YOU’D NEED ME
MAYBE THEN I WON’T BE ME

If Latin was my native language
If flawless was my middle name
If perfectly proportioned was my family tree
maybe then you’d dream of me

I’d love your feedback! Mainly on lyrics & feel of the song… (I can hear the part where I’m flat. And when my guitar totally covers up my voice. This is not meant to be radio quality, but just to have a recorded idea down.)

Domestic Disaster

There’s this rumor about me flying around in my man’s mind, and I don’t know who started it. But I’m gonna give away this secret right here and right now: He seems to think I’m a domestic goddess.

His standards are low and I don’t have the heart or guts to dispel this rumor. It works in my favor, you see.

But, can I just be honest?  I’m really a domestic disaster.

Anyway, I wanna get better. So I need some help from you. How often am I supposed to:

  1. Vacuum?
  2. Dust?
  3. Clean the inside of the oven? (I wouldn’t know how to do this if my life depended on it.) (No, I’m not kidding.
  4. Organize the closet?
  5. Go on a dust-bunny hunt under my bed, couch, behind the TV, etc?
  6. Clean the shower?
  7. Mop the stuff that should be mopped?
  8. Clean out the refrigerator?

My husband’s future domestic bliss depends on your answers… Somebody save him.

022: Hello World

She likes forgiveness
she likes sand between her toes
she likes to listen
she likes sunshine on her nose

She don’t like rainy days.
or Broadway plays
She says that it’s
the crazy things
that always make her wanna run
run away and say

HELLO WORLD
THIS IS ME
ARE YOU LISTENING?
ARE YOU LISTENING?
HELLO WORLD
THIS IS ME
ARE YOU LISTENING?
ARE YOU LISTENING?
TO ME… HELLO world…?

She likes to laugh
and laugh until she cries
she likes to run
and go on long sunday drives

She likes to yell until she breaks
until the walls around her shake
she’ll fight the change – won’t turn the page -
she wants it all to stay the same

Bridge:
She will step outside
She will let out a deep sigh
and she will say…
No No… she will SCREAM.

Chorus
