Ha! You know I’d pick one of these! However, if I had to pick something else, I’d go for a Fennec Fox. They are so freaking cute, and have the best ears ever!
I saw a show once where they recommended giant cockroaches as good pets for kids. If I had children and they wanted one, the phrase ‘over my dead body’ would never ring truer.
Saying all that, I could never replace our cat, she’s a ball of entertainment and personality enough.
i have long loved the thought of having a really big wild cat such as a tiger or panther for a pet, but sadly the ‘practicalities’ of such would not permit me to actually entertain the idea in reality.
Same goes for baby Panda’s, Polar Bears, and Dolphins!
i’d give serious consideration to an Orang-utan, but they are cuter as Babies than mature adults and they need interaction with other orangs, which are in remarkably short supply, outside of our local zoo.
Not a thing – providing you have a swimming pool the size of Chesapeake Bay.
Which i don’t
As for Catbird (did you look at the piclink??): if a sheepdog is a cross between a sheep and a dog, clearly this was a cross between a bird and a cat – Catbird!
Further interbred with an Old English Sheepdog, hence the Olde Englishe Cat-birde
NB. The thing it is sitting on is a ‘catbird seat’ – for more information look up catbird seat on wikipedia or see James Thurber

I’ve obviously seen this a bazillion times on Diane’s blog, but it still makes me laugh. How much more slow motion can you get?
It would be a nice counterpart to the hyperactivity of Maebh.
Speaking of whom, Diane “forgot” to pimp our cat’s blog; Maebh’s clever like that.

(Diane & David: You two make QUITE the couple, with or without your cat’s blog!!!)
Um, what IS that animal? Is it a meerkat?
‘Slow Loris’ is NOT this animal’s pet nick name
it is – a Slow Loris! (Loris are members of the lemur family and the ‘slow’ ones are found in SE Asia in the wild).
They live in trees and hunt insects, mostly at night, hence the large eyes for night vision (and it makes them doubly cute)
Meerkats are more your fast perky ground dwellers and do a passable impression of a prarie dog.
i love trivia – go figure?
<B
It’s a slow loris – see Love’s comment below.
(what’s a meerkat?)
If I lived in the country, with plenty of room, I think a wallaby might make a fun pet.
Big wallabies = big poop
um. you said “poop”
so frickin’ cute.
“i want one now, daddy!”

So i guess i’ll just have to go for one of these…

And what’s wrong with having a dolphin, Love?!
