62: Freak and Geek It (a return to the Hector story…)

This song has been in the works for months, and I really like it. I say I really like it because I actually don’t like many of the songs I write. So, when comes along that’s a personal favorite, I wanna share it!

Anyway, it’s a continuation of the Hector Hector story. Remember? We met him when he was job-hopping, then met Honey, poetically proposed, crazy Aunt Marvel lived with them, and now…

Well…

Hector has finally figured out what he wants to do with his life.

(I dedicate this song to our friend Joshua White, who I’m sure will get a kick out of it.)

67. Let There Be Love

You read that correctly. Song #67 is here! :) I’ve been writing, but haven’t been able to record since summer has been so warm and friendly. (I’ve missed that old companion.)

This is a worship song that I’ve tweaked over and over in the past few weeks. I still am not completely happy with the lyrics, but the “sound” is a close sketch of what I hear in my head.

I’m not a fan of asking you to click over, but for your listening pleasure, you can find it here. (For some reason, my tried and true player methods aren’t working. Sorry. Thanks for taking the extra time.)

You said
Let there be light.
Let there be water & land.
Let there be day & night.
That You might call it good.

This voice,
the voice of a Man,
carried the power of God
while He walked this land.
That You might call it good.

CHORUS
Let there be love.
Let there be love.
You say to us
with that same voice.
Let there be, let there be love.

He said,
“Your kingdom come
& on this earth
Your will be done.”
That You might call it good.

BRIDGE:
In the beginning
the Word with God
& is now with us

Secrets at a Starbucks

About a year ago, we sat at one of those quaint tables in the local Starbucks while she shared her story. I was heartbroken over what I heard – over the pain and struggle. But, I was also amazed, knowing the end of the story before I ever heard the beginning.

Drew and I spent a few days with her and her husband before I ever got that one-on-one time. We’d laughed with them, watched how they interacted, and knew they were a beautiful couple. I was so honored that they’d make the trip to New England, all the way from California, just to see the Thompsons and hang out in this corner of the world for a weekend.

I knew she was a gifted writer who inspired me with every story. I knew he had a voice that could soothe the soul like warm syrup. I knew they had two beautiful daughters. I knew they were passionate about the Church and had hearts to give the shirts off their backs.

But I didn’t know the story she packed up and brought with her, until that day in Starbucks. And I’ve treasured it ever since.

Sarah is now sharing her story with the world. And I want to share it with you.

Here.
