Confession: I’ve never been out of the country.
…until last night.
If you’re reading this, then I guess Drew and I made it across the border to Canada yesterday. Believe it or not, Canada is just a few hours North of where we live. Visiting Quebec City was on our list of things to do while in New England, and we’ve finally set aside about five days to make it happen.
Where?
Yes, this area of Canada speaks both French and English. I took French in college, piled on top of the Spanish I took in highschool, so I have a tendency to mix the two up! Ugh… This could be bad. Very bad.
But, I’ve been practicing:
Ou’ est la MacDonalds?

hey i do that all the time too! mostly with words like yo/je y/et and other little words like that.
so…did you like my country? I am from the other side, but i am a proud Canadian.
Tres bien mon ami. What does a Southern-Spanish-NewEngland-French ascent sound like si vous plait?
Sounds like mush.
I’ll be working on a video for you guys!
i agree with ric, i think we need an audio clip of what that sounds like.
I have been to Montreal, 20 years ago. Any place along the St. Lawrence river is beautiful. Take a trip up the river if you have the time.
I only thing I can order in French is Mousse au chocolat.
Living 45 min from Canada most of my life, traveling there was ‘normal’, but visiting Quebec City as a freshman in high school (that was our French trip–small school, it’s as far as we could go!) after only 1 yr of French at the time was quite humorous! I still remember trying to order a hamburger, but not knowing how to say it so we made up a word ‘jambon burger’ (ham burger)…I still remember how the guy laughed at us as he figured out what we were trying to say–it was great!! Great place to visit!!
I am french canadian, but never been there…always wanted to go. My Grandpa used to tell wonderful stories of there.
Excited for a vid of your trip there..glad you and Drew got to make it happen before moving. I did take spanish and french, and yes they do get mixed up, but i no longer remember too much of either..funny how the cuss words stuck..sigh and of course i am not using them LOL
I’m envious here!!! Montreal is the place to be tho… I’m just sayin

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your international experience.
now that you’ve successfully been out of the country… it’s time to head overseas. i’ve got a place (and a people) you will love!
