Can you see the sound?

Y’all. I watched this video and it blew … my … mind:

“Consider for a moment, that sound does have form and we’ve seen that it can affect matter and cause form within matter… Think about the universe forming and think about the immense sound of the universe forming. If we ponder on that, then perhaps cymatics had an influence on the formation of the universe itself.” ~ Evan Grant

  1. That video did blow my mind away, very, very cool, especially the part about visualizing the sonar beams that dolphins emit. I did swim with dolphins, maybe some day I can have a conversation with one.

On the Cymatics.org site they show you how to build your own cymatics rig “using commonly available parts.

    Although they do warn:

“If you’ve never attempted a home DIY project before please seek the assistance of someone
who has. Preferably somebody with basic electronics skills, a decent tool kit and a garage or
cellar space where you can make a mess… and a lot of noise”

I don’t know if I could build a cymatic rig, but I am very good at making a mess.

  2. At my small group tonight, we were talking about Hebrews 1:3 that talks about the word of power, and how it’s tied to creation. And about God speaking creation into existence. And that Jesus is the word made flesh. And he holds it all together by the power of his word.
Then I told them about this video. They flipped. I’m emailing the link to them. It’s just crazy.

  3. Welcome to my world! :-)

i ‘see’ patterns and how everything unites interweaves and interconnects in all things. visually, aurally, physically, numerically and alphabetically to name but a few.

As a continuation of the ‘patterns’ you have just discovered (seemingly for the first time in 30 years? Amazing!) look up Wikipedia: Mandala (and yantras particularly the photo mandala’s near the end of the topic).

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandala

The patterns science geeks show with a CRT display or a spectrum analyser of the sound waves as produced on a single dimensional string (like of a guitar say) are one aspect but the displays in the video are of the sounds on a two dimensional ‘string’ – or a plate in other words (like the ‘plate’ of a vibrating guitar soundboard).

The patterns that can be produced within a solid (or hollow), three dimensional (real world/universe), vibrating ‘string’ may amaze you even more than did the two dimensional ones :-)

And then mathematicians/scientists consider the ‘patterns’ of four and higher dimensional ‘vibrating’ objects in order to try and better understand the incredibly complex (but oh so ‘simple’) world we all share and live within.

And that’s about where my mind gets fully ‘blown’ ;-)

There is incredible power in the fundamentals of the Universe, light and sound are but two. (but both are simply ‘vibrations’ caused by objects in space and there is a two way connection between the object and it’s vibration frequency – the object vibrating creates the sound/light while the light/sound can bring into being the vibrating object through something called resonance!)

Sound can be used to completely destroy a thing – to literally blow it apart through vibration. it is no great stretch of mind to understand then that it is also capable of creation in a medium of the Universe – or of Creating the Universe itself.

  4. Reminds me of water in What The [Bleep] Do We Know?!?!”

    Real movie. Deaf actress.

Say nice things to water and on a molecular level water actually looks nice. Say nasty things to water and on a molecular level water actually looks nasty.

And our bodies are composed of…Well, a lot of water. And if that is what nice and nasty words and emotions do to water, imagine what it does to us.

Certainly makes a scientific case for The Golden Rule, don’t you think?

  5. that was freaking amazing.
i spent some quality time looking up more cymatics videos on youtube in the library.
i want to try it myself!

  6. in undergrad, i took a course called “the science of music”. it was a real science class, all about the physics of sound. cymatics was one of the chapters we got to study. it’s SO amazing.

as someone who spends literally hours each day studying all things music, this is one of the most exciting things to realize. God did a truly amazing thing when He set His mind to create music.

  7. “…then perhaps cymatics had an influence on the formation of the universe itself.”

Then God SAID, “Let there be light” ~Gen. 1:3

For He SPOKE, and it came into existence, He issued the decree, and it stood firm. ~Psalms 33:9

In the beginning was the WORD, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God. The Word was with God in the beginning. All things were created by Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created. In Him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. ~John 1:1-4

For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. ~Col.1:16

Yeah, I’d have to say this completely agrees with what we know of Creation…the Divine Spoken Word (Dare we call His speaking into the void…sound?) definitely “had an influence on the formation of the universe itself.”

    Very cool, that.
