I’ll be in Brunswick Georgia this weekend.
Singing.
Sunning.
and shopping.
…for our first home.
Y’all… I might have a room where I can sing as loud as I want.
OHMYGOODNESS
Don’t ask me how a broke seminary couple can do this, because I can’t even wrap my mind around it. This has been a rather quick, but not-at-all-foolish decision. I can’t really get into all the details. But, yeah, we’re going to look for a house! We know this is fast, but we’re hoping to find something that will work for us. Drew says I shouldn’t get my hopes up. So I’m trying not to… Maybe typing out the words “Mandy, don’t get your hopes up” will work… nope. Still excited. I don’t know if this is all gonna happen, but I’m excited.
One thing I do know, I had a friend tell me yesterday that I better give God some glory for what is going on in our life right now.
So: hallelujah!
I hope y’all can rejoice with me. I’m so excited I can’t even sleep.
There’s a sneak peak into what could be The Thompson’s Two-Ten!
I am so happy for the two of you!!!
That’s great news!! (Not great you’re leaving New England, but grewat nonetheless.)
Drew’s right. We looked at about 50 houses before we found the one we bought. Just be sure God is part of the decision process.
It’s daunting to say the least, but fun and exciting as well. Just take time to enjoy it.
My wife and I looked at a lot of houses before we settled where we are. Funny thing is we may not be here too long, getting the call to go south soon.
I’m so excited for you guys!!!
Wheee! I know EXACTLY how you feel!
We’ve been house shopping for several months. And the last little bend in the road brought us to a decision to rent. At least for one more year.
The banks are throwing money at us, but we don’t want to rush it so we’re going to rent!
Looking forward to being you & Drew’s town-mate!
Definitely be extremely picky…if there’s something you don’t like after 5 minutes of being in a stranger’s house, you will dislike it exponentially more once it is YOUR house. Luckily, we learned this early on and have been extremely happy with our place. Actually, that would be places since we have had to unexpectedly live in three different houses in our 3.5 years of marriage.
I’ve learned a ton having bought 3 houses and sold 2, so let me know if you have any questions. I definitely have some thoughts on the mortgage side as I shopped the heck out of the brokers and found that most are going to rip your head off…be careful.
hallelujah, indeed!
love you!
YAY!!! You can certainly do some sunning while you are here…it’s 92 degrees right now!! HOT!!! I know realtors if you need any names of good christian ones.
Hallelujah is right! We’re pumped. There are a few houses for sale in our quiet little neighborhood …
Have FUN, and I’ll see you Sunday!
Glad y’all have a landing spot now and as I remember you’ll be on very familiar ground. I’m thrilled the Lord has laid this much out for you knowing He’ll be more than faithful the rest of the way. And yes – here’s hoping for house more than suitable for belting out these songs you’ve been working on without fear of disturbing the neighbors. Are you sure you won’t miss having neighbors too close for comfort?
Hope y’all have a great time this weekend and that it lays the groundwork for more fantastic things ahead!
Oh that is so cool!! Excited for you, and yes…take your time. It took us many many months to find our first (bought) home. At least 50 properties.
But God made it all clear when we took time out from the noise of life to listen to Him, and I know He’ll do the same for you guys.
The house next door to the McKinnons is for sale! (and so is Jim Kay’s house, but if you buy it, you have to agree to allow us to use the swimming pool).
Praise to Yah!!!
He knows all the details and will work it out for His glory.
He’s really cool that way.
We bought our first home when we were flat broke. Phat had only had a job for two weeks after two years of scraping by. Our closing costs was the scariest part, but shouldn’t have been. We walked out of there writing a check for under $10. Unheard of. Our realtor keeps telling the story of this poor young Christian couple she once knew who believed in God’s power and you wouldn’t believe what He did for them. Like I said, He’s cool like that.
Oh, Congratulations!
I hope you can find a room with a high ceiling that happens to have a wooden floor. Or a small room with carpeting on the floors and the walls.
I am totally happy for you and praying for you and for Drew. I can’t wait to see how this plays out. I heart you so much!
I am letting you know that ShellyBeth wants a phone call whenever you have recuperated – even if it last only for 5 min.
Did you eat 4th of May for us?? (Drool…)
Girl…. God always BLESSES those who draw near to HIM
He is going to ROCK your world!
ha-lay-loo-JAH!
so so so happy for you!
