You’ll need Brent’s help to get this going… And the best thing to do is create groups. It imports your Google Reader feeds automatically, which is cool. No need to re-subscribe to all your faves.
It organizes all your unread posts into a little magazine just for you. When I created “groups” I now have a “songwriting” section in my online magazine – a “friends” section – a “church leadership” section, etc. And there are multiple ways to browse to have fun. See this pic: http://brizzly.com/pic/M4E
And, if I have to add a painful degree of honesty, this has revived my enjoyment of blog-reading… I’ve kinda gotten stuck in a rut. Google Reader was starting to get old.
THIS way is neat because I can quickly scan post titles and first few lines to see if it’s something I’m interested in (namely, regarding songwriting, church leadership, and worship blogs) and can also quickly scan through a persons blog to see what they’ve been posting.
I like it a lot!
i just have one problem with groups. do you have a catch all group for categories that you don’t have…like “blogs i randomly found via mandy” or ragamuffinsoul…haha :} but seriously…do you ever find one or two that just don’t belong…what do you do with those…? hehe
Yes… I totally get what you’re saying. Once you get into feedly, you’ll get a better feel for how you can customize it.
I have an “uncategorized” section – that’s automatic based on those feeds that aren’t in a particular group. But, even then I started to notice that there were mini-groups that I could set up. One of my categories is “Tech” and it now has 3 feeds: two that are related to Mac apps & 1 that is related to tech church stuff.
I’m a Netvibes girl… I like it because I have categories in different tabs, can view it like the webpage instead of just a feed view, and can also have a page for other things, like my google calendar, lists, etc. It keeps all different things organized in one place.
And I for sure don’t have a tab for things like people.com, because I would never be interested in celebrity gossip or anything. ever. mmm-hmm.
Ok… im gonna add this to my list of 2010 blog things to do… Where did you get the font for the cool writing in this blog? How did you get it to shape like that? I need a personal tutorial from you. Ive been scanning blogs and seeing different things thinking… ” yeah. they got that idea from Mandy”! ( cuz yur the queen in my book)!
no link to feedly. need link. me lazy. link. link.

Google Reader, me, yes. Biggest reason is because of the nice linkie at the top of gmail, so that I don’t have to type a link.
Don’t like typing links. So I say. I type a lot of links.
Checking on Feedly.
I bet you like groups just so you can put bernardshuford.com in a “DO NOT READ” group, ha ha ha
Wouldn’t blame ya. It’s pretty lame, most days.

At first, I thought this comment was spam!
Well I’m gonna test that out when I get home… trying not to install anything on my work computers anymore.
Installed it at home… and I gotta install it at work now too… too cool….

Netvibes sounds yummy too.
thanks Mandy! i’ll have to play with it some more :]
I have never used a Feed Reader. I just started using TweetDeck for twitter.
Thanks for the link to the Feedly site. Looking at the tutorial however, it looks like it might be beyond limited computer capabilities.
I will try to set it up. If I mess it up I’ll just blame you.
Feel free to blame me. And, yeah, you may not like it, Ed…

The queen? haha. No way lady… I learn from the rest of them.
I don’t know where I got that font – but a LOT of cool (mostly free) fonts are at dafont.com
I predict that you will spend HOURS there!!
