The Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.

my heart needed this reminder right this very moment.
I love this prayer. I have it framed on the wall.
Miss you friend.
Beautiful.
Thank you for the reminder.
Back in my early college years 95-96-97ish. I did a music tech project based on a song based on this prayer. A video montage of sorts.
Anyhoooo….
Here’s a rendition of this song by a boy’s choir. To this day it still remains one of my favorite songs.
One of my favorite prayers of all time. Challenges me to have the heart of God everytime I say it.
Oh, I LIVE my LIFE according to this. To me, it is the most inspirational prayer there is. I sing it in the car (softly) I have beautiful stained glass etchings with it on in my office, and it adorns my picture wall in my home. It always makes me feel peaceful.

wow! i totally have one of those blue choir boy outfits. shannon hates when i wear it, but i just gotta be me, you know?
actually, i hear this prayer summed up in two parts: 1. “your kingdom come…” (mt6.10) and let me be a part of that happening, 2. “…but in humility consider others better than yourselves.” (phil2)
both are things i need to continually ask God to wrap my heart around.
As always, I can count on you to leave a rather inspiring comment.
