I have words.

Yes, there’s a melody, too. But it’s wacky. Surreal. And I don’t have my equipment set up (yet – see post below) to generously record it. So, well, all I can give you is a half a song worth of words:

I’m on the dark side of the earth
longing for life
You’re an exception to my solitude
You’re everything so right
those mass mistakes my own disease
not collected not protected by time
for an extension of my everything
surrounding light
My own exception
My mass depression
you are
you are
You know how sometimes songwriters will say that a song sorta took on it’s own form? It grabbed a hold of its own future and stepped forward? It knew all along where it wanted to go and the songwriter just followed?
That’s how I feel about this one.
So… Where do YOU think it’s going?

What do you do when you can’t write songs???

  • Unpack
  • Leave the home-life chaos and go to work
  • Try not to think about unpacking and rearranging furniture while at work
  • Wake up in the middle of the night thinking about work
  • Get up and unpack so you can stop thinking about work
  • Think of all the people  you want to call and catch up with
  • Try to find times when you can hang out with old friends
  • Try to find times when you can hang out with new friends
  • Think of all the songs you’re supposed to have written by early March
  • Unpack some more
  • Buy cute patio furnishings for the back patio
  • Try to find times when you can sit on the back patio
  • Clean the house that you still haven’t fully moved into
  • Plant plants and hope they don’t die
  • Hang out with friends
  • Think about apologizing to those you haven’t called or hung out with
  • Go to work again
  • Unpack some more

What do you do when you feel like you’re treading water?

Because he’s better than me at nearly everything but cooking and singing. Yes. He’s even better at blogging.

So my husband got a kick out of my cell phone the other day, even though it really frustrated and confused me. I’m not gonna spoil the surprised by telling you why. But I will let you read HIS side of the story.

On his blog.

Yes, he actually has one, y’all. And he posts once a in a blue millenium.

And, if you’re wondering whether or not you should click on over, I’ll give you the first sentence as a preview:

OK, so Mandy’s phone woke up early the other morning and found itself several hundred miles to the east.

For all you LOST fans…

My good friend Tam has a blog.

Tam has other people posting on her blog right now.

This guy, who she knows through twitter (I know, some of y’all think we’re all a bunch of nuts), wrote a post:

Everything I Need To Know About Life I Learned Watching LOST

I think you’ll like it.

Because I did.

And, while we’re on the subject of LOST, I’m trying to forgive the writers for what they wrote Sayid into.

Really.
