If I had more time…

1) I don’t even know how, but I started following (or following-back?) @PreMiddleAge on twitter. (For those who might not understand the previous jargon, just know: I somehow found this chick on the internet.) Eventually, I started paying attention to the little things she wrote the twitter-net, and in a late-Saturday-night-wandering I decided to click on over to her blog. It is fantastic, y’all. Funny. Witty. Sarcastic. Witty-some-more. And, if I had more time, I’d read on…

2) I sat on my couch with a friend recently, and the more she told me about Madeleine L’Engle’s writings, the more I wanted her books in my hands. ”Our truest responsibility to the irrationality of the world is to paint or sing or write, for only in such response do we find the truth.” See? How could I not want more of that wisdom in my life? According to my friend, this woman knew faith, knew doubt, and knew the fitful path of creativity. If I had more time, I’d let her words mentor me…

3) My kitchen is avocado green. A wall in my bedroom is Boston-Legacy brown, with white birch trees stretching up it. (Yes, it’s my fave wall in the whole house and it was Alece’s idea.)Everything else is a pale creamy off-white. If I had more time, I’d paint our living and dining rooms a corresponding color.

4) Well, let’s just be honest. If I had more time, I’d think of a fourth thing to put on this list.

What would you do if you had more time?

  1. Wow girl. I think Cady did a post on this. I’ll have to find it for you. It was really cool.

If I HAD more time…well, I’ll just say in the end, I’d hope I’d given enough time to the things I was asked to do before the end came. I am not making lists anymore. If you write lists, then you just feel defeated if you don’t accomplish them in a set amount a time.
God doesn’t have those same expectations we do for ourselves…so yea.

  2. Oh. Madeline. L’Engle. Changed. My. Whole. Life.

If *I* had more time, I’d write like Madeline L’Engle. I’d finish the book. I’d start book number 2.

If I had more time, I’d… dang. This is a really long list… I’m going to stop making it, and go work on crossing something off!

  3. Girl, I got nothing but time. Want some of mine? Happy to share :)

If I was more able I would dance, run, sing and sit by the lake. And come visit you in Georgia.

  4. Mandy from the pics of your house that I have seen, you are one the most creative decorators I know.

Thanks for the link to @PreMiddleage, although PostMiddleage might be more appropriate for me.

I am lucky enough to be able to spend each day everything I want. Money is my constraint, not time. I would be taking weekly trips to NYC if I could afford it. A across country trip to vist all my blogging buddies would also be fun.

If I had that 28 hour day I would be doing more of what I do now. I might spend the extra hours online. More friends to make, more stuff to learn.

  5. I’m so happy that you were affected by my long-term (since the 3rd grade) L’Engle fetish 2nd hand. It’s been really special for me to see Cyle loving her writing. She’s been the inspiration for several songs on my past CDs. ENJOY!

  6. it’s funny cause… it’s my favorite wall in your house too! ;)

if i had more time i would be all caught up on my emails (something i’ve never done), i’d read all the books in my to-be-read pile, and i’d do nothing on a myriad of couches with a myriad of people i love.

  7. This Chick. Ha! Oh, years ago, I was called Sis. So-and-So and now I’m This Chick. How God molds and refines and carves and shapes us into less of us and more of Him. My title is so much cooler now. *Fist pump*

Thank you for finding me, following me and seeing funny where I sometimes only see grouchy.

    Listening. Learning. Loving.
    Cole
