Skinonyms

Do you ever see someone and think: gee – they look like so-and-so?

Who hasn’t thought that?

Somebody recently said that my husband looks like Vigo Mortgensen. And, hello? I won’t argue with that!

I’ve been told I look a bit like Parker Posie. Or some girl on a Witch tv show. Uhhh… Not so sure about that one…

Anyway, have you ever been told you look like someone? Who’s your skinonym?

  1. I had to look up Mr. Vigo. And then I realized it was that dude in 28 days, and I remember being so weirded out that he looked so much like Drew…and that he was playing opposite Sandra Bullock, who kinda reminds me of you… WEIRD! ;)

    As for me…
I get Kate Hudson all. the. time.
Even from strangers, which is odd but funny.
    And of course, I don’t mind…she’s adorable.

  2. People used to tell me I looked like Moira Kelly. This morning at Starbucks one of the baristas said I looked like her best friend with the way I have my hair up today.

  3. this is funny… Todd had a look alike at college… it was freaky. Some people have said I look like Sigourney Weaver, same nose? I don’t see it. I did see my look-a-like on a church powerpoint once… you know, one of those random imagines of smiling people that churches use. And I’ve seen Ava’s look-a-like in a Magazine (it took my breath away it was such a likeness)… my mom got the same mag and she called me right after she saw the pic gasping!

  4. EVERYONE used to say I look like Molly Ringwald.

    I was not flattered.

Quite a few have said I look like Martina McBride. I think it has less to do with how I look and more about the fact I used to sing. But I at least was flattered that time ;)

    • ooooh yeah! Gitz, I got Molly Ringwald constantly as I was growing up. I HATED IT. I don’t know why b/c now that I’m an adult, I think she has a prettiness about her. But as a kid, oh dang did I hate it!

I totally forgot (blocked) about that until now! haha!

  5. I don’t know that actress’s name (the one from Charmed), but I can see it. And Parker Posie. Maybe if the Charmed lady and Parker Posie had a daughter…

When I was in high school, Party of Five was popular and people said I looked like Neve Campbell.

  6. I don’t really have a skinonym but if anyone ever tells me that I look like someone famous it is usually someone very pale with overly large eyes and dark hair. I”m cool with that though- if Anne Hathway, Fiona Apple, and Emmy Rossum are pale and famous, I tell myself it’s only a matter of time for me…

  7. when i was a kid, Melissa Gilbert on Little House on the Prairie. (which i LOVED)
nothing that stands out as an adult.

  8. I get told I look like RANDOM people all the time. Some of them famous, most of them not. I ALWAYS look like someone’s relative. Always. A relative I’ve never seen so I can’t compare either. So I never know if that’s good or bad.

As for famous, I’ve gotten Renee Zellweggar HUNDREDS of times. I also get Laura Linney on all those internet “match me to someone famous” thingys. I’ve gotten a couple others but can’t remember…. b/c they were only like once each time. But the Zellweggar one I get allthetime. And I don’t understand it AT ALL.

Last year at the MOPS convention, I met Christy Nockels and her husband after she sang one night. Instantly her face lit up and she said “Oh my gosh! You look EXACTLY like my sister in law!” Then she motioned for her husband and said “doesn’t she look EXACTLY like your sister?!” and then HE got all excited and said “OH MY GOSH! YOU LOOK EXACTLY LIKE MY SISTER!” and they were both totally amazed and kept repeating it throughout our conversation….which was not about the sister. haha! It was quite hilarious actually. I said “well I hope that’s a good thing!” and she said “oh yes, very good. She’s gorgeous.” haha! Then I was instantly embarrassed and wanted to run far far away. But instead we took pictures. haha!

  10. Some guy once told me I look like Meadow from the Sopranos. I’ve never watched the show to be able to confirm or deny this…
