Something Greater (I wrote a song to myself.)

Here’s the deal. I’ve gotten tired of my spiritual state. So, I decided to write a song about it. It started out as a song to myself (and, nope, I can’t think of anything more vain than writing a song to myself)…

In the 3 month process of re-writes and tweaks and stuff, it turned into a song for others who may be feeling the same way. Like the breath of life has been sucked out of them. Like they can’t walk the spiritual walk anymore. But, you know what? We weren’t meant to live like that. We weren’t meant to live in the “downcast” for too long. We were made for Something Greater. There is hope:

oh breathless one oh lifeless one
rise up and fill  your airless lungs
oh bones raise up oh bones rejoice
it’s time to stand in life and stand in love

we were made for
something greater

oh dance long lost believer,
in the freedom of your maker,
and you. will find. your life
in something greater
your doubt will turn to knowing
your faith will turn to showing
and you. will find. your life
in something greater

by breath of life by day from night
from the fall we will rise we will rise
when all our fear gives way to faith
these bones will stand these bones will fight

we were made for
something greater

There is HOPE

So, Katy Perry & Sandra Bullock walk into a chocolate bar…

Guilty pleasures. I have them:

  • Articles on Sandra Bullock in People Magazine. I even have friends who supply me when they come out, because I don’t subscribe. It’s awful.
  • Chocolate. Except, to be completely honest, I hardly feel super-guilty about that.
  • Wine (um… yes?)
  • Music by P!nk, and/or Katy Perry. (There, I said it. Let the commenting begin.)
  • Yoga… But, should I feel guilty about that? I mean, really. It makes my stress headaches go away. AND it’s like totally barefooted exercise where you get to wear pajamas and move at the speed of a sloth. A dream come true.
  • Not wearing sunscreen. (Gah! I know. And the surgeon general probably has a write up on the risks of screen-less sunbathing. And I also think he has something to say about the health benefits of a glass of wine a day, so there.)

Ok. Your turn. What are some of your guilty pleasures?

The “new” me.

So, last night I went digging through my blog post drafts to see if something tasty was ready for your mental ingestion this morning.

And, to my confusion, I found a post titled The “new” me.–boasting a word count of  zero. Yes. Nada. Blank. No text in it at all. Just that title.

I have no idea where I was going with this a month ago when I typed out those three words. I don’t know who this new me is… What I’m like. What’s drastically different. I mean, yes, I think a lot has changed since sunshine and Vitamin D have returned to my regularly scheduled program, but I think I’m still me on the inside.

Right…?

Oh well. I don’t know what I was getting at. But, let’s turn it into a blog post anyway, shall we?

If you could create a “new” you, what would you be like? Or, to make it easier, what ONE thing would you change about yourself if you were given the chance?

Would you pay to see a singing hologram?

I saw one a few months ago. In Chicago. At the Story10 conference. It was created by a company out of Atlanta (Clark Pro Media) and it was pretty darn impressive. (more here)

So the Japanese video you’re watching is of Hatsune Miku, a synthesized vocaloid “pop-star” with thousand of screaming fans at “her” holographic concert.

It’s not even real. And they still bought a ticket and attended and went crazy mad over this thing.

I can’t even wrap my mind around this–whether this is good or bad. But, it’s definitely strange.

So… thoughts? Would you pay to see this? And scream and cheer and wave your glo-stick?
