My fast and furious five fall facts.

1) The rain and the pumpkins and the cooler air make me–fine, I’ll admit it–miss New England. The colours are going to pop in about three more weeks, you know.

2) I have this strange urge to add the British “u” in words. Like: “I love fall colours.” Also, the “u” can be utilized in honour and flavour and neighbour. But I prefer its charming use in colour. Why?

3) The new Facebook is coming this week. Are you ready?

4) Instagram makes me see square frames around stuff. All the time. Speaking of frames, Pam said you can always unframe it. The Office is back.

5) Mmm… Fall means favorite shows: The Office. House. (And fine I’ll be patient about 30 Rock. sheesh.) Fall also means one more home evaluation meeting before we hopefully are approved as adoptive parents. But that doesn’t mean we’ll become parents soon. Word on the street is that this is a longer process than anticipated. yep………

6) Speaking of watching way too much TV: what show are you most excited about this Fall?

  1. I love fall because it has a distinctive smell, the sun filters through the trees differently, the animals get busy storing up for the winter, and the leaves change. It’s probably my favorite time of the year.

As far as shows, I like Gray’s Anatomy, Private Practice, and Dancing with the Stars.

  2. Five things to say (not related to Fall or T.V.)…
    1) I am on a bus from London to Oxford having just been in Northern Ireland teaching at a women’s weekend – it made me reflect on that sweet ministry partnership we used to enjoy. Oh, those were the days!
    2) I love that you feel an urge to add ‘u’ in words…perhaps deep down, you know that it is the way things were meant to be ;-)
    3) I miss New England too…miss hanging out with you…and miss preaching classes with Drew (please pass on my regards).
    4) I was at Kathryn Scott’s Church last month and it prompted me to pray for your imaging of and service to God through songwriting.
    5) I’m soooooo pleased that the process of loving upon a wee new Thompson is underway…remember our chat a looong time ago in Panera? God has been good – He has been stretching, preparing and strengthening your heart for this new stage.

    Mucho care and love ….

Bonus 6) When I meet someone from Georgia – I give them my best ‘White Rice’ in a Georgian Accent…it is met with a mixed response! :-)

    • Hi!!!! Hellooooooo dear friend!! I’m so glad that you read this post!! haha!!!
Your points have warmed my heart. yes I miss you very very much. I was eating lunch with a new friend last week and told her about you. We are very excited about the wee Thompson process — hope things can progress quickly. :( Hope you are well and thank you so much for your prayers.

  3. I miss fall in New England too! Such a beautiful time of year there and compared to everywhere else, it is fall on steroids- love it!
We’re still in our temp house which means we still struggle to get an occasional clear tv signal with our bunny ears (for real!) so let’s not talk about fall shows I’d be looking forward to, mkay?

PS- praying for patience as you wait out the adoption process

  4. I can’t wait for 30 rock either. I was so desperate to watch some Tina Fey that I watched Baby Mama for the upteenth time
    I love:
Parenthood, the office of course (what american doesn’t like that show), Parks and Recreations, and Modern Family

  5. Oh my goodness, yes! The Office is back! And I can’t believe that both Pam and Angela are pregnant! How do you like Andy as the new boss?

    • Andy is a great guy. He’s got such a warm heart and, even though I’m not convinced that his management skills will be long-lasting, I think it’s pretty cool for now. I’m also still madly in love with the show, even though Michael Scott is out. Kinda surprised, but I guess we’ve all gotten pulled into the others’ lives as well. Quite an ensemble cast.

  6. 1. Aren’t you supposed to spell colour, neighbour with a “u”? LOL I kid…

    2. I miss the colours of the East also.

    3. Your Instagram pics Rock!! You have obviously learned some techniques I am not aware of.

    4. I like that I don’t have to put the AC on this time of year because it is 20 degees cooler

    5. I miss Summer though… because I know Winter is coming and I don’t like feeling wet & cold!

  7. I LOVE THE NEW LOOK!!! and the new facebook isn’t too bad, once you’re used to it. I love the u. it’s not just british, but awfully canadian too {as in your neighbours}!! speaking of colours…the sky is pink and the trees behind our house are yellow. super lovely! it’s been uncharacteristically hot here

I love fall tv – I was super happy to have csi back. and criminal minds. I sure like a good mystery!!

    • You are rocking the “Love” word this week, Cori! :) And thanks for mentioning the new look. I’m glad ya noticed.
So, are you in with Facebook’s new “Timeline” yet? What do you think about it?

      • well “super” was the word of the week last week, apparently. I can tell I’m tired when I get super {look, there I go again!} redundant!!

I don’t dislike the new timeline thingy on FB, it’s just different. and different is okay. Because I’m not used to it, I find myself getting irritated…and thankful that my phone does a better job of managing the changes. I do find myself more on twitter as a result. Since this is the biggest complaint I have, I’m doing good!!!

        • Adjusting is difficult. I’m finding myself entering the age of “older” people who just don’t want to learn the new updated technology stuff. I know. I can’t believe it myself. But I’m glad to hear that the phone has taken the changes well. Whew. Because I really really like the new technology of my smart phone. :) Thanks Cori!

  8. Nerd fact: the “u” in most British English words started being left out of American writing early on in our history because it was more expensive to recreate the words on letterpress with the extra vowel and they could save money by leaving unnecessary letters out. So…you’re right! Those words are supposed to have “u” in them. They’re just more expensive :)

And I do it too (leave the unnecessary u in particular words).
