Dear Razor
April 2008
I’m sorry to infrequently use you.
Yes, when I do, I really abuse you.
I act as if you have no call,
no passion or purpose, no reason at all.
Those winter months, they made me wait.
The goosebumps made me hesitate.
But, spring is here, and brings you hope
of usefulness, of shaving soap!
For, sunshine on my blinding thighs
(so smooth, so clean, so pasty white)
will come along to save the day
and chase the paleness far away!
And you, oh razor, sharp and shiny
will be my favorite item tiny.
I’ll use you every time I shower
and sing your praises with each hour.
My legs will thank you every chance.
My life will fill with new romance.
You wait, oh razor, and you will see
you’ll be the most important to me.

It’s 4:30
a lament on sleep lost. April 2008
It’s 4:30
and that’s too early
to sing a sunshine song or three.
Spring is springing.
My ears are ringing
from your tormenting tune of tweets.
The day will come,
the night be done,
but not just yet, you winged freak.
To keep your feathers
I think you better
Shut your beak ’til sun you see.

Umm…. Okay, that first one?
Let me tell you a story.
Here at my school, well, in my dorm, we have this little thing called “No Shave November”. There’s no rhyme or reason for it, just not shaving in November sounds better than “No Shave October” It’s the alliteration, you know.
So, this month, my girls (including me) aren’t shaving. At the end of the month we shall have a partay. Those with the hairest legs get prizes, and with the “translucent hair” win (I always get that one…….I’m proud of it.), or the most “beastly” legs, etc… we make up categories.
I’d like to read your poem to spur on the honor of shaving once again. Would you mind?
Let me know. Thanks!

Glad you posted these again!
Would you believe… for a couple of months now when i wake up early for a ‘nature call’ there has been a little chirpy honeyeater doing the Dawn Chorus thing in my garden and i ALWAYS think of…”The day will come,
the night be done,
but not just yet, you winged freak.”
and i had not seen your poem since April - until today!
You stay with me in the strangest ways
i love that
