To reward you for your patience, I have pictures. I have pictures! I have PICTURES!!!!

Drew let me buy this rug, bless him. Which was a bit larger and more expensive than the original rug my mom & I picked out the day before. He even made the exchange without me. (Note the funky floor lamp by the front door, because I have TWO of them. TWO!)

About two hours after closing, the kitchen had been taken over by drip cloths, paint rollers, and blue strip tape... I & my most amazing friend, our pastor's wife, were in a painting frenzy. (And, yes, the hanging lamp in the back corner will soon be something a bit more... me.)

Who cares if it wasn't really "fire weather" last Friday night?!? And who cares how long it took Drew to locate dry fire wood??? And I'm not even going to mention how long it took him to get the fire going. It was marvelous.

Yes, I did squeal when I saw this in Lowe's on Saturday. My mom squealed, too, because she knew I've ALWAYS wanted a glider. And I squealed again when Drew said I could actually get it!!! (We had a glider fight a few months ago. I won't go there.)

I haven't seen flowers in February in... hmm... 3 1/2 years. :) We have yellow daffodils, which are descendants of my great grandmother's daffodils (my granny brought them). And pink tiny thingies. And these beautiful white azaleas. Divine. Simply divine.

This table was white... for about 48 hours. I quickly converted it into a shiny black table, with the help of my grandfather who was once a master painter. Did I mention that I absolutely LOVE the kitchen? Y'all. I do. Oh how I do.

I should probably write a blog post.

nightmare day of flying? check

house-hunting? check

hanging with friends? check

good southern food? check

getting to see my parents? check

house-finding? um… well… maybe.

First, lemme say there are SO many houses for sale right now that it’s dizzying. Every neighborhood, every road, every turn. There are even people who want to sell, haven’t put the house on the market, but want us to check it out. How many did I take a look at this weekend? Probably 30.

In three days.

Is that normal? I dunno. I don’t know much right now, my brain hurts.

But, can I just say that the trip down made me even MORE excited about moving back? The record high temps left me sweating more than I’ve sweated in the past three years combined. And I’d forgotten all about the palm trees and live oaks. The spanish moss hanging down from everything, and the smell of salt water when the breeze blows just right.

Yes, it’ll be hard – so hard – to leave our incredible friends up here. And our church that we love dearly. And this last New England fall is gonna be beautiful.

But, I can’t help it. I’ve got Georgia on my mind.

Voting, Drinking, and Marrying

I was up late last night. Don’t ask me why.

But I had one of those late-night revelations:

Why is it that people can vote and marry before they are legally allowed to drink? Just seems… odd.

Odd that we can decide the future of this country… We can make a life-long covenant with someone…  All before we are considered old enough to put a drop of alcohol in our bodies.

I’m not saying I’m pro-alcohol. Or that we shouldn’t be allowed to vote until we’re 21. I’m just saying it struck me funny.

Am I the only one who thinks this is weird?

Welcome to the Dark Side

Everybody has a dark side:

  1. I can be mean. And by mean, I’m talking REALLY mean.
  2. Jealousy. It rears it’s ugly head in my life when I’m feeling insecure.
  3. “Controlling” should’ve been my middle name. Just ask my husband.
  4. I’m an addict. I can become addicted to nearly anything. Currently? Food.

Do you have a dark side?
